Ah yes, that's it then. I guess I like hearing mostly the close mics and not the overheads...

I love chinas and splashes, you're ridiculous, Chris.
:red:

My drummer has great skill with cymbal work though so I am fairly biased.
He uses cymbal fills more often than tom fills, sort of his unique little flavor as a DM drummer, and he uses both very tastefully.

As far as DM goes the splashes are groovy and the chinas are almost a requirement... IMO...

For rock and such though more boring cymbal selections are called for. :isay:

For what it's worth, the "real" mix of this has more close mics on the kick and snare. Significantly more.

ooo I like this very much.

Splashes and chinas don't bother me :panic: but then I'm an old metal head.

also snare and cymbals are the sig tones of drummers, like our geeetars and maps. :dastardly:

I concur. The quick cymbal work, sparse fills, deep snare and open, ring-y drums are definitely his thing.

FINALLY, I have time to get on the mixing again. :rawk:

Love the track. Like Chris I'm not sold on the snare but it works for this situation I suppose :idk:
