Re: Cranked Twin.
That sounds tighter than i would expect(also: Awesome!).
What guitar? And how are you bringing it into your DAW? Microphone? Or direct+impulses?

Re: Cranked Twin.
Having the bass knob rolled all the way off and the mid & treble dimed helps with teh flubz. It has more dirt than most would expect too, but that has more to do with me playing guitar like Mohammed Ali punches people. Ibanez EX-1500 (maple/maple/maple) with a JB in the bridge. SM57 on the edge of the dustcap about 2" back on a Swamp Thang. Thanks.

Fantastic. It is important to spread The Riffs in such a fashion that your neighbors can also rawk out to them, regardless of how far away from you their houses are.

Re: Cranked Twin.
I've heard from a pretty reliable source that said they heard me jamming through this thing this morning from no less than 2 blocks away. Needless to say, I saluted my day's good deed with a shot of whiskey and a cigarette.
Bear in mind that I got this phone call at 9:30 AM.

Re: Cranked Twin.
'Bout a '90 or '91... Blackface, MV. Push/pull MV, actually. Pulling it does some cooky shit... EQ change before and after the preamp, maybe? Seems it scoops the mids and boosts them at the same time. It was pushed in this clip. I have no need for the tonal change the pulled position creates.

Re: Cranked Twin.
Duly noted. I sent this clip to a couple friends of mine as a "guess the amp" thing. We'll see what they have to say.

Re: Cranked Twin.
I'm expecting "Plexi" or "Mesa Mark I". Or, seeing as it's coming from me, "modded Vox" or "Shiva". That thing's like the Spanish Inquisition of amps- no one expects the cleanest of clean things to ever clean to sound like, to my ears, a Mesa Mark without much graphic EQ fuckery. (Big surprise, then, seeing as a Mark is a Fender-based design.)

Re: Cranked Twin.
It does sound kind of Mark series-esque. In fact, I can definitely tell where they got the general idea from.

Re: Cranked Twin.
I used to run my Mark IV A pretty flat on the EQ and it would get to a similar place. I'm running a Super tomorrow at rehearsal, and I am a lazy fuck/it's been shitty out and I don't own a car (living in the city and whatnot) so I may unbox joey's attenuator and dime the Super to see what it does...

Re: Cranked Twin.
I'd imagine it'd do a very similar thing. Probably even more dirt as it has less juice.
I know a Deluxe gets in the same ballpark but they get much dirtier.

Re: Cranked Twin.
I love pushing old non-metal amps or newer non-metal-voiced not-ubergain amps into massive overdrive. Always have. There's something about amps on the edge of meltdown that really does it for me. The Super in question is an early Silverface, NMV so still the Blackface circuit, re-speaker-ed with THD 10s. We'll see. But yes, that clip is fucking awesome. Even with the mystery riff.

I do hope someone guesses the riff...
Hint: Album's called Phenomenon... came out in '74.

Re: Cranked Twin.
Isn't it the pre-gain tonestack that makes Mark series amps fairly unique and Fender-like (IIRC, Riveras do the same shit)? I am trying to recall..
