There's a board recording that our bassist has that is not in my possession yet. This was done with a little handheld Tascam recorder way in the back. Beginning of the set, so the levels are a bit wonky, especially where the backing vocals come in, but whatevs. Intro from Con Ed segues into Graphite.

Actually, pretty okay sound quality for what it is. :isay: Not fuzzing out at all, pretty much everything represented there.

I was pretty shocked myself at how clear it is. I may have to tweak the guitar tone I'm using live on this as it's a fuzzy mess (Geiger Counter)... but that might be the idea?

It strikes me that little thing, from what I've heard off it (belongs to a friend of mine) would actually make a nice pair of drum room mics.

I want to get my hands on the board recording.

A friend of mine had/has some form of Tascam handheld that did NOT do as good a job as that.

Especially when i brought my own (loudish) snare in for the dood to borrow, every rimshot he hit would completely wreck the thing, even with the pad/sensitivity set low.

Do you know which model it was here for the clip?

DR-07, if I recall correctly. It's pretty new, records onto a flash card.

Very ambient sounding. I second your notion involving room mics.

A couple of mics what, 50 feet back will do this. :geek:

I have some rehearsal room recordings kicking around here my friend did with this thing that sound pretty good; I'll see if I can dig 'em out. Metal stuff with a loud-ass drummer.

Damn you guys have your shit together.

Mighty fine playing and sounding for a handheld. I too would be interested in seeing a video.

Quality of these small hand held recorders is so good now. really captures it. Sounds fantastic. I also heart this greatly.

Muchas grassyass. Donkeyshave. :isay:

Alas, I have no video (though I do have a smattering of cellphone pics from friends and fans).

We are working on the next show. We got the venue, one almost-guaranteed opener and other bands I/we actually like to take up the other slot.

Oh, and a DMX controller for all our goddamn lights.

I had a drum sample library I made I was gonna post up for youse guys, but I seem to have... er, left the drive it's on at home.

...and yeah, those little handheld recorders sound niceynice now. This is way, way back from the stage.
