You know the deal, it's that SS amp that sounds like garbage (and that is the exact reason I like it so much)


Same settings as the flat fifths clips, but with even more mid scoopage and a touch less gain. I brought the mids back via Izotope Trash, and boosted 3k by 2.8db with ReaEQ.

I don't know whether I like the snare in this clip or not... it's really trashy sounding which is good, but it's also kind of ringy and a bit on the sharp side. I'll decide on it tomorrow. It's a blend of the Nir-Z snare in SD2 and the Vintera snare pack. Everything else is stock SD2 shit, even the kick. It's all processed separately this time except for the kick and overheads which are together.

I don't think this amp sounds like garbage at all. I seem to recall hearing it like a year ago in a youtube clip of yours, and thinking 'damned if that doesn't sound like one of the tube Peaveys'.

Sounds great.

Kinda interesting how we both posted clips at roughly the same time, and yours is 'It Makes Them Disappear' while mine is 'Never Existed'... THAT IS SPOOKY MAN. :eekass:

It's harder to tell from clips... but this amp has a ton of SS-ness in the tone... it's really lo-fi sounding, distortion wise. I guess it's called uneven harmonics? I don't know... most people think the character of this amp in the room is pretty horrible... but I like it. Mostly because it's the fattest/thickest sounding amp I have, and because it is fucking evil sounding. Really grainy, but not fizzy at all unless you're a treble freak. I've been through a lot of amps since I got this little fucker, and I still have it, so I guess that's definitely a good thing. I even resurrected it from a near-grave experience, once, when all the output transistors got a lethal dose of Dr. Pepper.


But it does sound like garbage... in a good way. :nods:

Pretty much this. Why are cheeseburgers so delicious? I don't know, and it doesn't matter.

I once had these veggie burgers that were made of portobello mushrooms somehow. Shit was so good. I think it was the magical power of sodium that did the trick.
