https://dl.dropbox.com/u/13184331/holeinthesky_inprogress%2Cmp3.mp3 I need to learn the bass during the chorus so I can finish the thing. Drums are a boring loop in SD2 at this point. Alesis QS6, Novation and various softsynths for the... synths. Bass yes, guitars no. I'm thinking I might not have any guitar in this at all, but we want to play this live with Garda, and there are extended nonsingy bits, so I suppose I should probably make up some guitar parts. The idea is that if we're doing any covers anymore they shouldn't sound at all like the original unless we want some crowd-pleaser setfiller or something else to bust out for an encore. (We got a few people shouting for one last show!) So I turned Sabbath into a dance tune. |

Once I have a finished guitar-less version I'll poast it up and you can go nuts. I actually need to have a finished version for my band, so it will be completed in short order. |

Also, that would sound so sick with some kmfdm style vocals over it. |

I sang it like that last night. One of the ways I'm thinking of approaching it. The other being over-the-top proper singy. I'll probably combine the two and see what works. Ranting Sascha-style into a dirt box really sounds good over this.

Roland SP-555 sampler, actually. Basically what you said. It's a hella nice vocal processor in addition to being stuffed full of banks of random shit. It's been on a few clips I've posted on... every incarnation of Maps, I think, as a vocal processor. I still want to rig a mic stand mount for it to have it and its samples there in one convenient obvious spot versus stashing it behind the synths live. |

For my tastes, the synths are a bit smoove for having no guitar. I like the angry clav-whatever that comes in right before the end, but that huge pad sound in the earlier bits makes it sound too "nice". ![]() That is of course, just for what you have here. You know what you are aiming for wif it moar than i. I pretty much just want everything to be violent, have violent elements to it. In general, i approve of this Roller Disco Sabbath concept though. It is a bit different than what the kids are generally on about.

Ah yes, I agree with Chris regarding the synths. I liked that lead near the end a lot. The song reminds me of KMFDM, "Money" a bit. Or maybe "Go to Hell", ah I dunno. Some older KMFDM tune. |

I do agree there needs to be some more abrasive element. Maybe split your bass signal and send one of the outputs to into your soundmangling box of digital death. |

I did dial in a nice bass tone using this little bastard the other day, and wrote the settings down...
