I has another pop rock type track I came up with yesterday. Fairly dull but I find it catchy enough I think the distorted bits sound a bit messy but I keep playing with the EQ and it doesn't seem to help so I gave up.

I dig the track. It's not rocket science but it's nice and it feels good, man. Nice bass playing too.

As an aside, you think it's worthwhile for me to switch from Soundclick to Soundcloud? It looks a bit slicker, seems to degrade the audio a lot less... and lately I have been inundated with hip hop artists advertising their 'beatz'.

The bass is programmed, using the 4front Bass VST. Pretty good for a free plugin I still haven't got round to getting a proper bass as I'm trying to save money

As for soundcloud, I really like it. Nice clean UI, simple quick uploader and it doesn't seem to make things sound any worse like soundclick seems to. Only thing I've noticed is that things sound quieter on there than the original mp3 Oh and you don't have unlimited space on the free account but I've found it enough for me at the minute (I think you get an hour and a half).

Aside from those fast snare fills sounding a little ass, this sounds pretty great.

You could probably sell tunes like this for commercial use. Just a solidly written, good sounding tune.

Do you suggest I scrap the drum fill or just need to play with the velocities and such? I'm not very good with fills

very nice. good pop/classic rock, I can kinda hear some old 70's Aerosmith in the bendy parts. Made me feel like driving around in a 73 Camora with an open six-pack and pack of Marlboro's rolled on my t-shirt. LIke Chris said, do something with the snare fill and you're huge.

Mainly the fill doesn't sound "real". I like the part actually, but it sounds too much like samples. It also sounds like the whole fill is rimshots. I *think* you are aiming for kind of a single stroke fill like Jimmy Chamberlin does all over the Pumpkins stuff, but if you listen to that style fill, you will hear a ton of variation in the individual hits. Rimshots will fall either on ones, fours, or sixes, and the rest should be a combination of middle hits and maybe lighter almost ghost notes.

Again, the issue is more with the sound of the samples all being the same, than the fill being bad. Actually, i think it makes a nice transition. Listening back, it might be as simple as just varying the velocities of what you already have.

Why do my latest things end up sounding Pearl Jamm-y? I don't even know many of their songs beyond Alive, Yellow Ledbetter and Even Flow
