The main core of this one is a neck bending riff that i originally meant for some pretty chaotic math/violence sorts of music, way back in the day.

Well. Lately, i haven't been feeling very math/violent, so much as very, very, tired.

So here it is, in the Tired Version:

So the dips are you bending the neck of your guitar inwards? Dood, that's mean.

Well, it's very interesting to listen to. It makes me think of abusing Nyquil in the daytime.

Yeah, i don't have any trem guitars at the moment, so it is the only way. Mechanically it is interesting, because you have to play the chord, the hammer-on, then quickly bend the body/neck, then pull-off to end it, then immediately start from the first step again. Took a little bit to actually be able to play it the same way over and over. :red: I originally wrote the riff on an SG, so it was easier-ish to play. Kind of bruised my hip a little playing it on the tele. :red:

In the end i went with the Lowestang. It was janglier and bent easier.

The rest is a shit-tonne of reverb, and lots of brutal EQ. Even the drums have weird-ish EQ on them.

Amp, as usual, is the timmy into the Crate GX15R, mic'ed with a PG58. :red:

Fuzz is faked, just an automated bypass/enable on a VST called "Tri-Dirt" that i coupled with an also automated bypass on another weird setting EQ.

I like this very muchly. The bit where there's a key change really reminds me of something else but I dunno what it is. I really like the bass playing as well :tu:

What is that gigantic distorted angry sound at the end?
It works well with the song.

I kept waiting for Isaac Brock to start singing :cop:

I like this quite a bit. A sort of slow brooding melody that just explodes.

Also, the build-up kind of gives me a Radiohead vibe.

What I am trying to say is this is just up my alley. :huzzah:

This Is Long Drive... is one of those records that when i first heard: i was straight up pissed. Because i could have written about half of it myself. So much on that is stuff that i used to do, and not far off from the the way i used to do it. It was best that i didn't actually hear that one until after i had moved to different sorts of thoughts about sounds, because if i had heard it when it came out i would have had a sad.

But yeah, especially with the approach to the abuse of a guitar, those motherfuckers and i have some similar plans.

I really think it is your violent playing that makes me think of them. I like people that beat the shit out of their guitars, like the guys from Sonic Youth. I love neck bends, fucked up chords and heavy handedness.

It is a cranky VST and an EQ to shape it. The VST is called Tri-Dirt and is kind of like three blendable distortions. It could be a more awesome VST than it is honestly, because it was kind of a pain in the ass to get something nice/nasty out of it, but it is an interesting concept for an FX anyhow.

This is interesting too, because i have a really light touch on the geetar mostly. I mean after i play something i will beat the thing up, but my actual pick attack and fretting is quite light. :idk:

I was thinking more of Thurston Moore there, but that kind of surprises me. On your riffing a lot of times it seems like you are playing rather light, but you strumming on some chords has that chunky sound characteristic of beating the strings.

It is hiding away in EQLand.

Conceptually, this is about being mostly asleep. Dulled perceptions and inconsistent distortions of reality. The drums sounded too crispy, so i uncrisped them. :idk:

I like this a lot. I definitely hear the Radiohead vibe mentioned earlier, and maybe a touch of Modest Mouse. I almost wanna throw some lyrics over this for practice :eekass:

Do it up man, it once had vocals(not words though) on it, but it would be interesting to see what someone else's ideas would be for it. :isay:

Yeah I dunno how good my lyrics would be... but I feel like my voice would fit this laid back style. It's a little deep and round :idk:

If you want to fuck around wif it, it is cool with me. :idk: Doesn't have to be fancy, slick, or even good.

It is just always interesting to me how other people hear stuff, what they hear in it. :huzzah:

Ah well I've gotten something hashed out about floating around in space with a burning death in the atmosphere being imminent  if I ever find time to record vocals, I will do so (on my iphone :red: )
