Final versions of four of our songs...

I want to geek out and tell you all the things I did to make it sound fucked up and kult, but it would take forever. But just know that my Talkboy mic was used throughout, tucked into the ceiling tiles of my house as an ambient mic... also some strange mic choices on drums, and a lot of lo passing. And the entire digital mix was put onto cassette and reimported, had to use Reafir to remove the clicks (which made it sound even more fuckered). Also the interlude in 'Desolate' is one of those shitty organs that runs on air blowing through... um, its innards.

It's basically the revival of a band me and a highschool friend had years ago. I'm drums and bass, he is guitar and vocals, and the organ thingie.

I managed to import them to my computer from the tape without annoying click sounds, so I am reuploading them in their pure form. I don't like what Reafir did to the old ones. Now they sound perfect. All dark and mysterious and stuff.

If anyone is interested you can download them here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E5H3WT7G

Best listened to with headphones if you are in the mood for something dark and raw and generally at odds with most of what we want to hear in music...

Sounds fuckin' righteous as hell, bro.
:huzzah:

You managed to somehow make it sound really good while also making it sound shitty and harsh.
It's still kinda warm and the reverb kills any TOO jagged-y poke-y sounds.

Sounds swell geoff.

Snare sounds really actually quite nice. Is that the new one?

The drums on this are actually quite clear. This sounds awful really nicely. :rawk:

I like the doomyness in Dead As A Corpse. I likes the slowmetal.

Yesyes, Dead As a Corpse is nice with the forever riff. That is briefly a fast thing and then more droneyness. Sort of a hypnotic track we think, if you are in the mood.

Yep it's the newish snare, tuned pretty tight. The snare was a tom mic, the Avant ATOM. I thought it might be fun to see what kind of bass oriented shenanigans it might create, after listening to Mayhem - De Mysteriis. It is a very bassy mic. The rest of the drums were Glynn Johns'd, aka the AT2020s and my Avantone kick mic. And the Talkboy in the ceiling tiles.

The snare is real ballsy. The drums in general are quite good; GJ doesn't look like it should work, visually, but it does. This is a really good mix of some really bad sounds. It's not so lo-fi you can't hear all of what's going down. There's a surprising clarity to it, and again, the drums punch nicely. It totally does have that cassette nasty underground vibe to it though, which is cool.
