Something I recorded with my tranny friend from N'awleans a few months back when we were really shitfaced. She may look like a lady but damn sure doesn't sing like one, at least not here. Sounds like friggin' Jim Morrison or something. I think we were two bottles of Merlot plus whatever else in a piece by the end of this.

Live off the floor, IIRC. SG --> my AC30, with me playing a '50s Harmony archtop with a glass slide into a Fender Champ + miced up close with an NT5. Think there was a 57 up close on the AC30 and my ribbon up on the Champ. Vocal mics are distorted to all fuck. KSM27 for the lead vocal and Beta 58 for my backups I think. I think I'm running Decapitator on every track. There is/was a version where I overdubbed some drums on this but I suspect I wanted to hear it again as much as anyone else did and it probably went the way of the buffalo. :barf: You do not want to hear me play the drums.

Nasty down-home-on-the-Bayou country blues played by about the least down-home country blues people you could find to perform it. :mob: :cop:

On my list of records to finish this year. At least it's a proper diverse list.

I'm only singing the backups on this. :idk: But I appreciate the compliment all the same.

It is interesting, your friend almost sounds liek you on this. I mean not like how you normally sing, but like it could be noises that could come out of your voice hole. Sounded a bit different on the older tranny jam you poasted.

This is a pretty cool project, no doubt. You can have a lot of fun recording it i think. You need some oldschooly microphones, methinks.

That just looks like, how this should sound.

Now if only the vocal situation for my metal project could sort itself out. It would be quite the coup if I had three bands with Vocals That Don't Suck, even if two of them (at the moment) don't gig. As far as I can tell, most bands are lucky to have one halfassed singer.

I've actually thought recently about getting a Copperphone:

That, a harmonica mic and some ribbons and I'd be set for this one. And a nice out-of-tune piano.

'Course that doesn't stop me from wanting an AKG 414 (they're retarded cheap used, compared to the thousand bucks they are new) and a Bock 195. But those will come with time.

What do those copperphones go for again? I checked once and forgot. :red:

I think they're like three bills new?

I've been trying to plan out studio purchases with the neuhaus in a couple weeks and as I rarely track live drums (and bring in another engineer and do it in a different room anyhow) having tons of A/D and killer pres is less important than having D/A, a nice board to mix on and cool mics to overdub with. (And a few killer pres. And compressors. Stuff that doesn't say 1176 or LA2A on it is still cool and much cheeper.)

I really dig the production. It's pretty ambient and it sounds like it's been fucked a whole bunch. Bit of an AIC vibe once the dual vocals go on?

I'd be lying if I said there's no AIC and King's X influence here.
