Here it is with Eddie's reamps. Pretty good tones... needed quite a bit of post EQ/scoopage though.

OP post sounds better than the re amp imo.

Ah. I noticed the scooping it needed as well but I left them no eq. I haven't used my guitar to record this song but reamping with my own stuff seems to not to need the radical scooping. Here's my setup to make my clean sound.

All Maple neck through body V -> Kramer dual rails pickup (12.5K) -> Homemade Hansen Active DI box

Just for the record, my 5150 has bias mod with fairly fresh tubes. I used the high gain input with the lead channel. I only put the pre gain knob 1/2 way. Most people set it higher to get a more distorted sound.

I would be curious of your setup. I have read active EMG pickups are not that desirable to record with and when using active pickups you should use a passive DI box. I also have read that when using passive pickups you shouldn't use the real hot ones like an Invader for example since that is between 15k-16K.

I think you did a great job mixing it in your recording for what its worth. Guitars sound is in your face as opposed to your original mix where the guitar was in the background more.

I think both of those toanes would sound pretty spiffy mixed together

Setup is Ibanez EX-1500 (maple everything, JB in the bridge) > Profire 2626 > Reaper.

You take a short cut and use the profire 2626 as the direct box. You don't have a quality active direct box lying around over there so you can do the following???

Right. I can't tell the difference between plugging into the 2626, and reampling or plugging into the amp.

I like them both and would like to hear them mixed, but I think I prefer Eddie's reamp on them over the two on a winner gets to live contest.

Oh, and I had a 6505 for a good amount of time... I usually ran the pre-gain at 3 (numbers, not clock face). I am not a gain-aholic... at least not with those amps. The lower you set the gain, the better they sound until they get all thin and shit.

What I'm trying to determine is why when I reamp your clean sound it sounds like it has too much midrange. I'm tinkering now with my guitar recording the clean sound and I'll try to get some answers.

Also, what set up did you use for your original recording?

I already have the answer to that. Your guitar is not maple, therefore it is not all midrange.

But how did you record the amp? 1 mic 2 mics?
