My pair of NT5s arrived today...
So now you guys get to hear how fucking awesome this room sounds. Chain: Ibanez > 808 > XXX > 1936 with G12k100s (very back wall of the room dead center) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8290798/sm57%20 ... 20cone.mp3 < SM57 about a foot back aimed in the middle of the cone between the dust cap and the edge. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8290798/nt5%20p ... corner.mp3 < NT5 pair in each far corner of the room, as a guess I'd say 20 feet back? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8290798/mixed.mp3 < mixed together at identical volumes.

Nicey nice. What are the dimensions of the room, and what's the construction like- hardwood, etc.? The room sound isolated sounds really nice, like it... should. I like the NT5s for that application.

It's an L shaped room... I'd say 22' long, 15' wide in the wide part, 12' wide in the narrow part. 12' ceilings. Concrete floor (cab's sitting on a piece of plywood), normal drywall walls with super glossy paint, drywall ceilings with that funky ass spatter paint shit.

That sounds great. Man, G12K100s are great sounding speakers too.

NT5s are swell. Excellent choice! Sounds like you are getting some phase issues with the near/far mix, but they both sound quite good on their own.

Yeah I neglected phase entirely when setting it up. Yeah they're fast becoming my favorite speakers. Thanks, dudes!

I think they belong in the mic recommendations thread. They're slick little guys for not too much coin, especially for what you can score a matched pair with a hard case for. I like them better than the Oktava MK-012s overall and for consistency. I can't compare them to the venerable Shure SM81s, not from memory at least. They're not harsh or brittle on top. Value-for-money champions for what you can pick up a set for.
