Please forgive the looseness (read sloppy as fuck), as this was tracked without percussion and, well, I was drunk as shit.

Silverburst Tele with Texas Special through a tricked-out Dual Rec with GE and RCA t00bs. Spongy/Diode, 4x6L6s, through a Mills Acoustics cab with vintage Celestion G1280s. SM57 and KSM27 through an ART DMPA with NOS Mullard 12AT7s and Burr-Browns. No EQ, some Lexicon room 'verb is all that there is. Bass is a stock Fender Jazz. These are raw room tones save for the 'verb.

:dukes:

Oh, Recto is on Orange/Modern IIRC, and the bass is run through the same rig without changing the settings save for backing off the gain a little. This is the Recto I was talking about maybe buying from my friend.

Sounds great, man. Awesome gain texture to that there tone. Very aggressive and crunchy.

I need to start a stoner rawk/Sabbath-worship project, seriously. I'd bust this stuff out and my ex would come into the room and be all, jokingly, "have you been smoking pot?" which given as I don't, we found pretty damned amusing. I do tend to play this kinda shit a lot though.

Re: fizz- I had it on Modern mode (albeit Orange channel) with the treble and presence pretty high- and with a Tele, so... I wonder if it would disappear in a mix? Regardless, I think it's a pretty cool tone.

Depends on what kind of music you were playing.

Deftones style riffage? It'd work like a charm. Anything industrial too, that kind of tone works perfectly in that kind of music.

But for anything else I'd say it needs a lowpass at a pretty low (comparatively to normal lowpass freqs anyway) frequency.
