http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8290798/fucking ... 20wars.mp3

Rhythm guitars: OD808 > e530 > JSX poweramp > 1936 with k100s
Lead guitars: pre-500 Dual Recto > G-flex 2x12 with Texas Heats

Bass is split... lows are simply compressed at 21.5:1, highs are compressed then ran through the aforementioned rhythm guitar chain sans the 808.

Drums are Metal Machine with very little processing.

Yarr, sounds nicey. :bangin:

I feel like the lead geetars could all be a little louder though. Like the melody/theme ones and the solos.

Yeah I tried everything to get the leads to cut through better... they're played (written, more like it...) in such a way that they just add a layer of mud over everything else.

I have a hunch the person playing it is a chick... every post of theirs on the Sneap forums is worded like a chick would word things. But I've been wrong before... wording is certainly not the best way to judge a person's sex on the internet.

I like this mix better than the mix on the original. :red:

I haven't been on there for a good long while; do you have a link? Bass tone sounds appropriate and high enough in the mix.

I would go for oddball subtractive EQ or bust out the good ol' Waves API 550B as my chainsaw when things absolutely need to cut. Boosts or cuts in unusual places. Sometimes it works, and well. :idk: Blunt force trauma is an underutilized sonic tool.

As an aside, subtractive EQ was a friggin' revelation even though on the surface it often appears to make no logical sense.

(S)he left out the clean solo though. :red:

http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/rate ... u-mix.html <linktacular.

There's a lot of EQ on all three guitar tracks. (from memory) -3db at 500hz and -4.something at 900hz on the rhythms, and a boost at 400hz on the lead, and a pretty steep low pass at 9k-ish on all the guitars. They all have Decapitator on them to some extent as well. The lead track has a bit of Echoboy on there with some saturation from it atop Decapitator. I find things cut through better when they're louder. :red:
