Okay so our vocalist left some week or two ago to just do black metal. On good terms. We're tired of waiting for this EP to be complete, so big ol' Geoff came along and made all the lyrics and recorded all the vocals and so theeere it is. Fucking done with the thing.

Anyway our guitarist set up a Soundcloud for the band so you can peep it here: http://www.soundcloud.com/vesication

There's one song there. I am offering for any of you to download the nine song EP in 256 kbps mp3, the link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?4t9tafay6b2pb32

Appreciate feedback of course. :huzzah:

I have been off battling winter/doom lately, but i just got a chance to listen to this.

Give details aboot the recoardings. What are drums/what are samples? What geetar maps?

Everything sounds very good and pretty slick to boot. The guitar sound, to my ears is pretty much exactly like Carcass - Heartwork. It has that massive low gunk with just the right amount of cheapfizz to it and just the right level of bassguitar to meld into one Thing. If you were playing heartwork riffs i think it would be pretty close to 100%.

All around very nicely executed. :huzzah:

Thanks Chris!

It's my Ludwig Accent CS kit, though I dropped the 13" tom and used an ancient ten inch tom I've had forever. Ten inch tom had a clear Evans G2, the 12 and the floor tom had clear Pinstripes. The brass Pearl Sensitone Elite with a Remo Ambassador on top... fucking Remo, the Ambassador sounds nice but detuned throughout the session. So the lower the snare sound, the later I recorded that drum track. I kind of like how the snare's pitch is varying from song to song though.

Kick: Yamaha DTXpress sample
Snare: Avantone ADM on top, Audix i5 below
Toms: Avantone ATOM on rack toms, used the Avantone MONDO kick mic on the floor tom because I didn't have a third ATOM (I do now)
Overheads: AT2020s

Lots of EQ shaping on the toms and kick. I also made a reverb send for the kit, the vocals also went to it.

Guitars are a 5150 into a Marshall 4x12, unsure what model or what speakers it contains. Though it does have a lot of 5150 character the guitarists used a Digitech Metal Master distortion so it's pretty damn gnarly. I recorded that with an SM57. The tone was really thin though, so I also took a line in and fattened the guitars with Poulin Legion. We tune the same as Carcass so that might help with us sounding a bit like them also...

Bass, was recorded by our ex-ex-vocalist a while ago. It is some distorted bass and an Ampeg VST layered.

Vocals... AT2020, plenty of distortion from my Antares TUBE plugin.
