Not really sure what to think here.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13184331/PROMISE_UNMASTER_TEST.mp3Prior versions of this have been poasted in the past. No processing on the 2-buss whatsoever. No compression, EQ, whatnot. I tried a fakemaster, but my laptop violently craps itself lately if I try to do any real work on it. Curious how it came out.

I dig it. The whole thing sounds vintage-ish with modern elements.
Plus, who doesn't love surf guitar?

Sounds pretty swell i think. If i were to go for a master of it, i would probably be inclined to do very little to the thing. The balance seems right to me as is.

I like that guitar! It reminds me of like, King Crimson - Discipline a bit, being all bright and effected.
This is a good song.

Awww! That is flattering. Note the baritone tuning in the one section, 'cause I am a sonofabitch.

Re: Not really sure what to think here.
This was a really odd thing to write. It started off life as a jam inspired by a Goldfrapp song. I pretty well tried everything for guitars over it and it totally wasn't working. And then Mr. Chris suggested "surf guitar" and "spaghetti western soundtrack". It goes over surprisingly well live. Re: the sounds, I like the fact they're real drums, too. I did layer up a 909 kick on the final version, triggered off the real kick, and there's some jacked-up effects (distorted delays in series) on the hats during the breaks. Total '80s snare, by request.
