Clean & kinda dirty through teh XTC. Brand spanking new strings. Freshly shimmed neck. Haven't potted the pickups yet, but that's for a day when I'm feeling froggy. I played a few riffs from my rawk band and a bunch of improv wankery. The clean part is an interludey song I wrote 3 or 4 years ago that I haven't played in almost as long. Be warned, I forgot what the fuck one of the chords were. This guitar sounds surprisingly nice. Plays pretty well too... Pardon the usual sloppy ass playing. Sounds nice. Maybe hear a little tuning or intonation in a couple spots, but it does have a nice janglecrunch to it. XTC sounds great too. Sharp but fat. |

I get what Chris is saying re: "sharp but fat". I would have said "spanky" myself. I've always liked the Ecstasy for the sheer girth of the thing- they're just thick sounding. And the guitar does sound nice. Which pickup positions? All and all, not a bad score for, y'know, free.

Bridge for the dirty bit, neck for the clean bit. Thanks, dudes. Thw XTC is definitely pretty girthy sounding. Loud as all fuck too. The best clean sound this side of a Twin reverb, IMO. And the epicness of the blue channel cannot be denied. I am not a fan of the red channel, though. It has no air or brightness whatsoever. |

Twang twang twang... sounds good! I like singles through thick high gainers. If I were in a rock band that might be the route I'd take. |
