Post Hellbound Train

I was bored. It only took me what, like ten years to get around to doing this? :red:

Mapsims all. SVX B15 for the bass, Amp Designer AC30 (left) Super (bluesy thing at the beginning) and Plexi (center riff thing).

Stylus RMX and Kontakt for the drums.

NTK and 57 for the vocals. NTK for the main vocal and the whisper track, 57 for the subway announcer intercom.

Synths are Absynth (weird noise in the background), Alesis QS6 (B3) and the mono synth in Logic (pulsing bass thing).

This, I think I finally got that Maag EQ to work for the vocals. I still went with the API for the distortovox though.

Seeing as it was 3 AM or so when I recorded the vocals doing the chorus was a bit impractical. It's just as well; I want my Geiger Counter for that, and it's at the Snaxodrome. Guitarviolence for the chorus, yes yes yes. :huzzah:

Sounds real good. Guitars are nicely twangy and amp-sounding. :nods:

Donkeyshave. :huzzah:

If I throw a cover on me solo record this might be it. A Sisters tune would be too obvious a choice. (Though I'd love to do Ribbons in any context, ever.)

I snagged the Geiger Counter on my way home this... Well, morning; it was light out by the time I got home, so the chorus will get its noisynoise.

Re: the guitar tones, as I've said a few times now, I'm rather taken by the way current ampsims sound. And I'm using a stock one in Logic (Amp Designer) and a couple free ones (LeXTaC and LeCTO)! They're just... I do give them the same treatment as I do real amp tracks, but they're not getting as thick, for me. So the mic'd cabs still win out. I'll say this though, the sound is a lot better than my Pod XT. I generally have the Pod plugged in just to monitor without latency, if nothing else, for DI-ing stuff, and there's no comparison which is better; the software wins 100% of the time.

Thankfully AC30 and Super are tones I can get whenever I need them IRL.

Curious how this'll turn out in the end. Also, other people should get around to re-making things. :nods:

As an aside, I'm looking forward to the change in sonic texture with real drums kicking in on this where I have the acoustic snare sample. I think that'll pick up nicely there. Enough space for a really cool snare sound, too.

Nice vibe... I can tell this song has been clearly depicted in the Snaxo-brain for a while

I enjoyed that. Possibly turn vocals down a bit?
