Re: Pirates of the Caribbean - One Day cover
Is that Damage all up in that for the percussion at the end?
I adore Absynth and it winds up on... Probably the majority of things I do in some form or another. But realism is not its strong point; you really can't escape sounding synth-y with Absynth. Re: orchestral stuff, there's the handful of things we'd discussed PM-wise before, and if you're delving into Kontakt-land these days there are Good Things out there. Expect big sample libraries, though; the timbre of brass changes really, really dramatically depending on how hard it's played. I don't know what's what in terms of quality though for that as I don't have much occasion to use orchestral instrumentation outside of strings.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean - One Day cover
I like how it almost starts out as the 007 music, then darts up instead of down.
I dunno, shit sounds good to me man.
Actual brass sounds are always the most difficult. Ones that are all lowpassed like this are actually easier to fake, IMO. The worst ones to try for are the brightass blarey ones. I have NEVER heard a good fake for those.

Need to drop a hard beat in there and get some autotuned singing. At least the starting shit.
Once the boom ba boom started though I lost this impulse. Darn, that is some good boom boom noises! I want to download that sample library and make a documentary film about our dog.
