We've been playing this out for a good long while now. Of course, my lazy ass has just gotten around to roughly demoing the thing. Probably the jam-y-est thing we do in that there's a few sections where the guitar may or may not just go nuts depending on how Mr. Chris is feeling about it on any given evening. I kept the guitaring pretty sedate here. Same with the bassing. I'm playing keys live on this, and my parts don't vary at all from what I'm playing here.

I'll get around to putting vocals on this in the near future to see what I can see re: production. Our bassist sings this live; I occasionally whisper or yell into the mic at various points in something that passes for backing vocals.

Straight up disco funk yo.

The kids must love this out in clubland. :huzzah:

If people are dancing when the click stops, we've been known to keep it going another eight or sixteen bars. :nods:

For all the ominous pulsating and Alfred Hitchcock film score strings in the verses, it really is a disco song. A gothly-flavored one, but still... Which makes it doubly fun to play when we're on a bill with crunchyguitar bands. :D

This was fun. Lyrically, it's a break from our usual seriousness and into proper sleazy territory- it is disco-funk, after all. (These things happen from time to time when the bass player is allowed to write songs.) There's no real arrangement for the spoken word bit at the end- it changes every time live; I have no idea what's being said most of the time; it really could be anything and often is, so 'twas bullshitted.

Also, where I place NLS in the chain (pre/post compression + effects) is relephant to how stuff sits in the mix. Also, I've taken to throwing compressors on after 'verbs and delays, because turning up the effect mix is not always the right answer. Along similar lines, I've taken to compressing effect sends.

Levels may be fucked up on the vocals as I did this on 'phones at 4 AM after getting home from a bar. :red:

Sounds swell-like. :huzzah: Really enjoy the vocal style for the soundform. :huzzah:

I also fairly often compress after reverb or delay when these days when i (now rarely) use reverb and/or delay. It just seems to make the things do the things that i want done when i want the things done.
