That is an awesome painting. A really big one. It basically serves as a headboard to my bed. I have had that painting since 2006 or so, I think. It is actually a pretty daunting piece of art that holds a weird place in my brain. There are multiple vaguely supersketchy things going on on it.

Where did it come from? Was it painted by someone you know?

One day, my ma came home with it telling me that it reminded her of me and it has been here ever since. I am not really even sure where she got it anymore or how she got it here now that I think about it.

Did this because some friend of a friend posted the instrumental on facebook saying to throw down vox. Total Rotten Sound/Nails vibe, couldn't turn it down. Way up close on a PR40, a bunch of compression, some reverb and a little EQ.

Yes, and super tr00 grind in that the vocals are only just sooort of staying on tempo in parts.

And I realize that the vocals are really high in the mix, but it was done mainly to show someone else what my vocals sound like.

It is weird to me, some of this sounds like it was double tracked with a high and low vocal together going back and listening again. Which none of it is. :hypno:

Probably just a demo for now, I am not huge into my finger tapping performance and the tone could be better, but it is a noise.

Trying to get fat sounding toms. PR40s on top, MXL2001s on bottom. No shell of snare mic unfortunately (just an i5 on top) and no room mic action which would make a large difference in the sound's quality I feel. I just need more stands, I ran out since I am using some for holding gobos and whatnot. Also, threw the MXL ribbon directly underneath the snare instead of underneath the drumthrone. I think I might like it better there.

AKG D112 in the kick
Audix i5 on snare top
Shure Beta 57 on side of snare
MXL R40 under the snare, pointed at the kick drum
Heil PR40s on top of toms
MXL 2001s on bottoms of toms
Shure KSM27s as OHs as a stereo pair opposed to my typical GJ setup
Nady RSM-5 as a room mic split into a stereo pair via phase reversal

Bruh, it is ALL about those bottom tom mics. They make the biggest difference in the world.

Messing with some processing and whatnot on some drums I tracked the day before last. Still not where I want it to be, but it's sounding pretty cool, IMO. Snare's a little wonky, but I think the sound's there and I just gotta find it.

I think I'm hearing the drummer bury the kick beater and then pull it off the head pretty prominently in the nekkid drum tracks. The drums don't sound like there's a whole lot being done to them, which is probably a good thing considering what you're probably going for here. The toms, I think, sound especially good.
