Impressively chaotic, brother Heck. Abusive to the mind.

Another dealer Alex and I are putting together. Pretty drunk and pretty tired so it's very sketchy. Weird verb is coming off a condenser I had on the silly little combo amp I'm using as a PA for vocals. Drumming and singing is kind of a motherfucker. :red:

P.S. Alex's rig on this is my roadworn Tele into a Earthquaker Devices Rainbow Machine for the weird modverbdelay sound and a VFE Effects Woodchipper bassfuzzfromhell for the terrifying subfuzz. That shiz is going into a Peavey Classic 50 that belongs to our roommate which is, a little less than desirable. Kinda breaks up in an ugly way, might need new t00bz tho.

All in all, considering this is just a KSM on guitar that I just eyeballed and a KSM in front of the kit I am pretty stoked on how this sounds.

I dig this biz.

Reminds me a little bit of some things, but you foalks have your own flavor.

Thinking I'm gonna pop back into making these kind of tunes again: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/137 ... 20DEMO.wav

Made this last night, got ideas for the drums and still comes up with some vocals/more layers.

Curious to hear how some vocals wind up innit.

Drums will also add a nice element of low end to it. :huzzah:

Agreed about the lack of low end bit. There's actually bass in there, doing the quarter note stabs but I put a two octave up thing on it cause I liked that more. I think I want a subby synth on there... might use my friend's new MiniMoog into his EHX Frequency Analyzer which is SICK AS HELL.

Will likely have to re-track this whole fucking thing because the timing is so wonky. It is hard to get the drums to work.. the initial parts were recorded to a metronome but it does not really line up at all. :red:

Well, you know, i like it the way it is, timingswise. :red:

Sounds more than a bit like Battles at this stage. :huzzah:

I'm messin' with some different mono room/effect microphones. Trying to get characterful/trashy sounds going. Got some Waves 1176 compression+Decapitator parallel bandwidth limited distortion on both.

First go round is just an sE Magneto in the position I've been putting it in, the "COK" position facing down towards floor between the beater side of the kick and shells. Second go round is my sE X1R ribbon quite close out in front of the kit, kind of a strange tubby sound, but could prove useful. Last go round is them both combined. Magneto is going into my stock preamps on my US-1800, X1R is going into my "vintage" Tascam M-208 with a bit of EQ.

That ribbon one sounds fucking cool man, like a slightly higher fidelity telephone...

The first one is boring to me, but carries more of the low end punch.

The combined sound is definitely a solid option to fill a specific type of song need. :huzzah:

Post subject:  Re: A Barely Scientific Microphone Test

Agreed about the first mic being boring but it's really quite useful because of how little cymbal bleed there is and how you can get the resonance of the toms. Ribbon really does sound quite neat though.

Gonna be recording a split with MOIST, a band I recorded that I have posted here, and my new punk/pv/slam band, Weeping Worm. MOIST is probably gonna be a bit more of a slick production, whereas I think we're gonna for like a shitty Morrisound death metal production meets more modern.

An interlude we are going to use for this Weeping Worm EP thing we're gonna do. Gonna be lots of stupid shit like this between the deathpowerviolence-ing.

Post subject:  Re: A Barely Scientific Microphone Test

Thank ya, dawgie. I think there's gonna be a lot more in this kind of spoken word interlude style. We're gonna for a very Alien Lanes/Bee Thousand collage type approach just with a heavy record.

Here's another: https://www.dropbox.com/s/79829ljm7wcmg ... 1.wav?dl=0

Threw it together in about 10 minutes, I just layed down the shitty bass track and Alex improvised the panned guitars and guitar solo on the spot.

Ian, Alex and I did some demos before our show inna couple days, figured we'd throw up the short couple that weren't performed too terribly. Playing drums and doing vocals is bullshit. :0
