Which, by the way, i do not at all like. But i am trying to bust through my recent not-liking-anything, and a general not-being-able-to-focus-on-much-more-than-going-to-work-lately. So i guess something is better than nothing, even if i don't really at all like it.

Keep it up Chris. I concur with Cam... when the stereo guitars came in, Buyers Sellers grabbed me. Do you share these with anyone but us?

Not really. I sent a zip to a couple olde friends of mine, but i don't even think they listened.

Or rather, if they did, they just weren't into it at all; i don't think they would have understood what the fuck it was anyhow, as i had not really sent/showed voices stuff to anyone before, from way back, in the time back when i just assumed i would someday write actual human words for things and then show them(i.e. like the period of twenty-plus years before last december when i just sort of finally gave up on that concept/pipedream).

So they definitely would not have expected this angle, as, compared to what they knew of me from my other musics, it ain't related really. They would have expected something much more abrasive, and you know, with no singing.

Of Other Machines That Make Ticking Sounds.

Feel like i should try this one again. Maybe some time later.

Dislike something about it that i cannot yet specifically place.

I haven't really checked up here for a while, and I've been missing out. This is lovely.

I think the dirtvocals might almost be necessary to keep it from being too saccharine sweet. Both the writing and performance are on the pretty side of pretty- and extra points for a fine vocal vibrato. Still, there's part of me that wonders what this sounds like into a super-swanky Neumann or the like and a big fat tube compressor. Probably very nice. But I wonder if it wouldn't lose something from sounding like a sixth generation cassette dub of some old '60s vinyl from the UK.

I do think the fact the vocals are largely unintelligible on much of this material as a whole adds a bit of a mystique to it. I haven't the faintest clue what most of the words are- they could be anything at all- but the vocal has a pleasant timbre, and the recordings sound old.

Yeah, i mean, what i record is definitely cleaner and with a wider frequency range than what is left here in these. Just leaving out the telephone and only using the MXL2001's signal would be similar to the one decent mic thing. I just don't like the way it sounds. :red:

I think that i am also finding that i prefer the inputs to be playable like an amp. More fuzz with proximity/volume. It makes it more interesting to me, you actually play the microphone and it breaks up if you get mad at it or too close.

I still say that distortion is the finest compressor available. :red:

Now, this one won't ever have to worry much about finding itself sitting on the pretty side of pretty... :red:

You Know Damn Well What This Machine Wants.

Wonky mix, and i should have enlengthened the end versething by prolly another iteration, but ohwell.

Did some organizizing today:

Part One:
http://chrisdeveau.bandcamp.com/album/s ... h-mountain

Part Two:
http://chrisdeveau.bandcamp.com/album/m ... h-mountain

I kind of just figured that if i didn't spend a little time and do something slightly more than just heaping them into soundcloud, they would eventually get lost in my pile of continuing new noise.

I didn't clean up very much. Mainly dropped some that i didn't like as much, or that just didn't fit, and made a couple of minor and ham-fisted edits here and there to move or remove some things that i was tired of hearing.

The main thing, i think, is just to bring things to completion, to break the cycle of endlessly abandoned noise. Which of course, in essence merely means some thing like: now, at least when i abandon something, it will have an album cover? :red:

I should note that if you are me, as soon as you put it in stone and up there, it is pretty quickly, that you start to dislike the choices that you have made.

Imma leave them that way, but neither one of those plays right to me.

Oh well. :red:

I'll get back to ye when I can give this a listen in order in re: how it floes. That these are out there in an accessible, released format is, I think, a good thing, because it's a noise worth hearing. I do know a person or two who would approve of this as a listener, so I'll pass it along.

Interestingly, halfassing the "finalizing" of those, seemed to have put me in a bit of an unpleasant state about things in general. Weirdly, i think i only like them in chronological or reverse chronologial order, or something very close to it.

Also, i don't really think these things are meant to be "finalized", ordered, or whatever. I think it is basically just throwaway trashnoise actually. I mean, i have to continue to do things like it. But i think that may be all that they really mean to be. Starting to feel i guess, a bit silly about having a bandcamp for it, like it was something else. Not sure that saying something is something else, makes it that.

Dunno.
