Fascinating titles. The tracks are getting better to my ears (or maybe I'm listening on something better than a laptop). I enjoy the distortion fart aesthetic.

This. The titles are ace across the board. On The Subject Of Identity Concealment, Arquebusier, and The Ghosts On The Ladders in particular are a fine three-banger of quality wording right in a row.

The addition of a bass via DI and the extra frequency information it provides, adds quite a bit to the impression/illusion that the more recent ones were recorded somewhat less shittily, i agree.

In troof though, pretty much all of them were recorded exactly the same. I have this basically set arrangement now right in front of my desk, that is an MXL2001 with a telephone cable-tied to it to put the two elements in about the same place. All voices and acoustic guitars are recorded by that dualmic. It offers a bit of variety: the telephone is extremely bad ground noise and very easily overloaded with terrible frequency response and peaked mids, while the MXL is by far the cleanest biggest sounding mic i own. If i mute the telephone or put less shit and distortion on the MXL these all sound very very different.

The first things in this thread were probably about 80/20 telephone/MXL, the more recent ones are more like 40/60. I am mucking up the MXL more now though to make up for the unwanted clarity it provides.

I kind of like having the microphones act like an amp. Eat the thing and go loud and it builds into a pleasant fuzz. I like the reactive nature of that. And i like the end result much more than i like listening to the up close "real" sounds of my own voice. :red:

I enjoy titles. Especially where there aren't really words. You can kind of take whatever you think you hear for words, and then let your brain tell you how the hell that phrase has anything to do with the title. It would be an interesting exercise to hand a non-worded tune like one of these to someone with a title and let a bunch of people fill in the lyrics.

It is funny though, because all of these titles just sort of arrive, and (to me) mostly they are just exactly obvious. They have to be for me, because otherwise, i won't be able to find the files when i need to. But when they are all piled up like this all in a row, i do rather like the pile they make, as far as images/ideas.

But like, for example...

On The Subject Of Identity Concealment, mainly because one of the parts is basically exactly identical but an octave up from a part in Pseudonyms, whose title comes from the last (possibly only) words.

Some of them are like that and come from random things it sounds to me like i am saying(there are actually very few "on purpose" words anywhere here, which is probably clear on listening).

Sometimes it is random stuff from dreams(i.e. ladder ghosts. they were on ladders because so many of the staircases in the building were missing segments of steps, and it was clear that it was the ladders that allowed them to move around the space comfortably.)

Arquebusier, because for some reason the chord/melody reminds me, like quite a lot, of musketeers. I don't at all know why.

That sort of shit.

I know i stole parts of this from myself, but i don't know if it was from something i already poasted. I will have to listen through later and check.

Sleeping In The Front Yard In A Normal Bed.

When i get a chance i will probably re-record this, as there are a few things i dun like. :idk:

Thanks mc'manski brodudeski.

It is now named:

Awake At The Crack Of God Damn.

And i intend to record it yet a third time somewhere later, maybe lectric'ly guitarred. Still not really happy widdit.

Might make it slightly longer by repeating something or other. I do like them short tho. :red:

I tried to do this last one again today a little more properly, but fuck, it is just turning into distortion soup.

The thing is, it certainly doesn't sound good, but i don't like it clean, either.

Oh well. Moving on.

And sparing you foalks the fuzzmess. :red:

It works. The visual makes sense with the music. And I like the color and font choices.

Yarr. I seem to have been drawing caves a bit the last few days.

A bit too literal/cartoon, imo:

I may actually prefer it to the first. Maybe.

Also kind of fixed the tracking on that font on these last two.

I like the type, mainly because it has lots of holes in it. The other versions i did were with much more bold lettering, which i also liked but it seemed to throw off the balance of the thing.

I like the pipe on the second one. Mechanical bits in general that seem hobo-engineered onto the cave seem suitable. Also, it looks like there's a silhouette of Bender from Futurama standing in the mouth of the cave.

A Slow Rolling Disaster.

Middle needs fixing.

I don't seem to be in the mood to do any fixing today. :red:

No, We Mean It, Man.

I mean to go back and redo things like this some time when i am not at work all the time. For now, i am recording when i wake up at 5:30.

Which is so very wrong. A wrong way to live. For wrong people.

All this shit rocks, dude. :huzzah: A Slow Rolling Disaster I like best. That saucy bridge section near the end reminds me of something I have had kicking around for awhile, I think you have actually even have heard it.

Tanks. And yarr, like that one meseff a bit.

Which of yours do you hear innit?

I wound up with that second bit mainly because i didn't know what the fuck to do with it, and i figured that the pace should probably change there, or else it was just going to get slower and draggier and slower and draggier until it eventually just ground to a halt. Did i accidentally steal it? :red:

Nah, it has been done enough times/it is different enough for me to even try to accuse you of stealing. Man, this thing is like, really fucking old. :red:
