Another one (basically another version of the same versething that goes in a slightly different direction) from a couple months ago that i didn't like and didn't post. I don't remember why though, because i don't hate it right now. Maybe a little clusterfucky and i could have sung it better, but whatev... That is an accurate description of 100% of the rest of this shit anyhow.

I don't know if I never heard it before or if I am now tricking myself into hearing it, but there's a very Robert Pollard-ish quality to your voice, atleast on these new songs.

A lot of the structures are pollard-y for sure. Meaning they don't make as ton of sense to be stuck together. The tone of my voice is not pleasant like a find Pollard's to be, but there is i think a small amount of similarity of intent that stops short of me trying to actually sound like him, which i could potentially get closer to if i tried. Staying closer to being actually inside my own voice's range would be a start. :red:

On that element of lately gravitating somewhat uncontrollably toward the outer edge of my range, i actually tuned my guitar down a little to try to bring my natural pitch inclination down a bit, but it actually had the opposite effect, as now i can *almost* hit some things that in standard tuning i would not have much of a chance with. I don't want really to tune the guitar the other way to try to push the voice back down though. Maybe i might invest in a capo. Though i have never really gotten along with them up to this point.

Maybe i will try to do a more complete and better played version of this one later, maybe i will never think about it again. One is just about as likely as the other.

Well, i did actually go back into that ^ one, but it isn't necessarily any better, so i won't poast it.

Something else instead, one in the category of "with a change that doesn't make any sense" :

One Of Two Ways.

In other news, i think i am becoming almost fully anti-reverb. :idk:

Really was intending to realdrum+basstrack this, but now i have a welder to play with i am too distracted and the basement is filled with flux-core smoke, so it will stay this way for now. :red:

It's weird hearing you without reverb. :hypno:

I think your particular noise sounds more polished sans 'verb, though whether that's something you want, I don't know. I like it, but I suppose I like glossier sounds than some of us. Glossier being a relative term. That being said, you could absolutely slap slick production values on this stuff and probably do quite well with it, what with the very melodic sensibilities and all. What it would lose, though. I don't know.

J'adore the vocal harmonies on this latest round o' stuff. I really like what yer on about as a vocalist. I can understand maybe one word in ten, but that's part of the charm. I don't pay a ton of attention to rock lyrics anyhow. It's the actual sound that's compelling. You are a damn fine singer.

Oi, tanks snaxo.

In troof, i am probably only singing one in ten real words, so there is that.

While i like writing words, i kind of hate writing lyrics. And for sure, i don't really listen to lyrics anyhow, mostly only noticing them from others when they are bad/cringeworthy. As slick as any of it would ever get though, that is what would always keep this stuff in the realm of terrible noise for most people who are not me.

I mean, some people can get away with it(My Bloody Valentine for instance is gloriously lyrically indecipherable), but i don't think it would ever work with this flavor of relative vocal directness. Being unable to hear something is less of a problem i guess, than hearing something that is clearly nonsense. Could always pretend i was just speaking some fucked up foreign language i guess. Which would work mostly, except for the very frequent small phrases of quite obviously english words scattered throughout. :red:

Losing reverb is a weird thing. I find that it makes mixing easier though. With battling reverb spaces thrown into the mix between instruments and voices, i find that there is an awful lot of fiddling what needs doing with levels. Remove the verb from the equation, and i find it is almost as simple as just raising the faders to similar levels and letting them fight it out as nature intended. Now i mostly only use reverb for things i want to push away from the foreground. Kind of the same as i have started to be with panning. I have been experimenting a bunch with pannning only to reduce something's presence in a mix, in some cases instead of dropping the fader at all. :idk:

Have at it if you like. My basement will be off limits for drumming for a spell. That section of the basement is currently full of shit i had to move away from the area where i have been welding. :red:
