I ran an SM58 into a Digitech Hot Head distortion pedal, into my interface. From there I used ReaPitch to add high and low layers, and panned the layers all about. Then I cloned those tracks with a tiny delay and tiny pitch shift and mirrored the pan of all the layers, for big stereo action.
I actually prefer the first tracks. Mostly as a matter of drum sounds and guitar tones... the guitar sounds more mid-chunky there (probably because it was before I removed the tone circuit) and the actual output of the Roland drum brain sounds better than replacing drums with samples from it, as was the case with the last two songs.

I understand this kind of stuff isn't something you'd normally do.Interestingly, I was on Reddit today and in r/ImaginaryStarscapes there was some art called 'Gravitational Distortion'... it was indeed, the cover art for our album. Totally out of the ether. That really made my night.
