Yes I know the res sucks but it really doesn't matter, we just need something to put on the front of CD-R cases we're going to be passing out at shows.

I figure we can put black bars along the top and bottom (like 'letterbox' movies on an old TV screen') and then in those black spaces put the text... the text being, VESICATION (on top) and HUNGRY HUNGRY HERPES (below part). Probably Impact font.

In keeping with the TV theme, does this work?

and a high-res one:

Ah... hm... that's not quite what I was looking for... it's really above and beyond to be quite honest. I just wanted the black bars so we could exclude the finger at the top and to get the image square like a CD jewel case. But that's pretty gnarly and I'm grateful for the effort!

I kinda figured as much but it was something to do with my time to throw an idea together. Cropping the photo, that's easy enough. I'll hit you back on that later if someone else doesn't get it first.

Thanks Snax! I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately there's only so much Wolf T-Shirt-type greatness I can sneak in there and still get the kid in the shot if you totally remove the hand. (Thus my idea for putting the thing inside an old TV; the shape is right.)

One with more black space, one with less. Both are larger so if you're doing any layout whatnot with them you'll have to scale 'em down, but I'd rather give you more than less to work with, y'know? (View Image to see them at the proper size; at 12x12 150 dpi Firefox makes them... Overly large)

Ooh okay... can you put the same IMPACT text on the first one of those, sitting on top of the borders between black and the pic? So it's kind of like on top of the image. If that makes any sense. The graininess of the image looks really bad this close up but then it's no big deal at all, we are not a fancy band by any stretch.

Like this, you mean?

Re: not fancy, unless I miss my guess you're going for intentionally not fancy; that's part of the whole aesthetic?

That's 5x5 @ 150 dpi, by the by, so there's a quarter-inch bleed on all sides for cutting 'em out for CD covers without the text being too near the edges. (ie. There's room so you don't have to do them exactly to size.) I don't know how you're having these done or who's doing the printing/cutting so I did 'em proper. The people at your local Kinko's or whatever will thank you. Alternately, the poor bastard in the band who's stuck cutting them out with scissors doesn't have to worry if he screws up the edge.

Yes yes very good! Now if only you can put some sort of texture on the text so it's easily legible and cool looking!

Tampered with a bit; stole the font from the version earlier in the thread:

I think that will be perfect. Thank you so much! Is there a high res version?

That should be 150 dpi @ 5x5. I can get you a bigger one if you'd like, though I'm not sure how much it'll matter once printed given the source photo.

Our bass player works for a printing shop and is going to handle the printing of this thing, we are hoping we can have some CDs ready for Friday... he says he wants PDF format or erm... some other format which is uncompromising like that. Can we do this?

Missed the thread; my apologies. Not. A problem.

2 up on an 8x5.11 sheet with crops, all ready to go: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13184331/Vesication_2up.pdf

The image by itself in case you can/want to get fancy with it. I don't know what imposition/RIP software he's got there or what he's printing it on, so if you want to stuff as many as possible on, say, an 11x17 or 12x18, this is the one to roll with. 5 inches square, so you have 1/8" bleed around the whole thing for trimming: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13184331/Vesication_cover_w_bleed.pdf
