You're going to need good preamps too. Try some out. The best ones are basically transparent (as in, not much audible difference between what goes in and what comes out), and that kind of fidelity is something like a grand per unit. Worth every dollar! |

Well he could probably get away a midrange solid state preamp unless he is recording in a nice room to justify a high end tube one. |

Millennia or Benchmark are good choices. Grace if you're on a budget. Schoeps or Earthworks for microphones. |
