Pearl Sensitone Elite brass 14" x 6.5"

Got it used. Great condition, came with a Remo Control Sound head (horrible QC... the dot is off centre), and also a coated Ambassador and Evans Power Centre reverse (probably will switch to this one). And a clear ambassador and some nice wires on the back. It packs a wallop. :huzzah:

Fuckyeah, the Pearl Supraphonic/black beauty Ludwig copy!

Definitely one of the few things i want to change at some point on my drumkit. Supraphonic is the biz. :huzzah:

I've never held a Supraphonic but lemme tell you, this drum certainly weighs a bit.

The brass ones are pretty weighty. That is part of why they are so ballsy sounding. :isay:

And 6.5x14 is definitely the best way to go IMO. A real nice swiss army knife snare. Great low tuning sounds, great high tuned ones. I love the balance between punchy body and cracky ring they have.

Oh, and out of those, i would probably go coated Ambassador myself, but i do really like them ringier than most. :red:

I know nothing about this but that it's pretty.

And that, good sir, is enough for me.

Been dicking around with the tuning on this mofo. It really is a ringy fucking drum. This was the main thing I was dealing with. I've ended up putting a wart of tissue and tape in the top corner and now there's just a little bit of ring, which I like. Tuned midrangey, it's like a brutal 'clunk'.

Awwww mayne. That's a fair bit of setting up. Do you want overheads or will just a pair of dynamics suffice?

Post subject:  Re: NSD

Just curious about the snare, so just whatever you would normally use on that. Even just one dynamic a foot off the top would be fine. :idk:

I just like hearing snares. :red:

Allllso. Obviously if you don't want to set up for recoarding it, i won't mind at all. I can easily wait until your next planned drumrecordingtimes to hear it. :isay:

I'll pop some mics on it tomorrow and make a snare-only clip.

I'd like to do a full demo but that means uncoiling the long cables and running them one by one into the other room, getting the stands up, etc... Too much fucking hassle.

I'm thinking... Avantone ATM on top, SM57 below with the phase flipped. :unstrung:

First is the snare with an SM57 a foot off.

Then we have it close miced in the manner I outlined in the previous post. It should be pretty easy tell when it is and isn't muffled...

Lastly is some of the other snare, the starter Ludwig Accent CS thing that came with my kit. I recorded the snare clip in the same project folder as my Walk the Dinosaur cover, so I just tossed it in for comparison.

That sounds awesome unmuffled. I would rock the everliving shit out of that. :huzzah:
