On promark factory seconds drumcorps sticks.

And so i bought like 80 pairs of sticks.

I forgot how often i had to retune my snare back in the olde days when i only used DC sticks. Shit is awesome.

Though... now i guess i should be on cymbal crack watch again too. :red:

How often do you break them shitz?

For the sticks, pretty much never.

Everything else breaks. :red:

What usually happens is that the shafts just start to splinter and get eaten away making them too light and too soft on the rimshots to use. But that generally takes a long ass time to do.

As a point of reference, i have probably only ever bought ten pairs of real DC9s since i discovered them. I would just have two pairs around in case one started to get too soft.

I don't think i have ever actually broken a realdeal Promark DC9. :idk:

I suspect that i might be able to break one of these factory seconds ones because some of them show a little heartwood, but to start out with them i purposely picked a pair with that looked like crappier wood than the rest and so far they have been solid, with a few hours of hammering in them now.

You get the benefit of even though the wood might not be A+ high grade, there is still an awful lot of it there to resist destruction. I probably wouldn't buy factory second 7As for instance. I would expect that to be a splinterbath.

Oh yeah, the main thing is that the real promark DC sticks are $9-10 a pair.

Normally the factory seconds go in blocks of ten pairs for like $50.

These ones were on sale for $1 a pair.

Yeah, that is stupid cheap.

I always really liked 2Bs, never played with anything that giant though. Shit looks ridiculous. :red:

These forwards, are kind of like 2Bs backwards, but they are like about an inch longer, and i find that they bounce better than 2B buttends because they actually have tips on 'em.

IMO, these are the finest rocksticks available. Sheer brute.

Just have to watch the brass with them. They have enough weight that it doesn't take too much force to really bash the cymbals even when not particularly intending to. :red:

Damn, it is kind of a bummer that you live on the right coast, dawg. :red: I cannot seem to find someone who can both blast and pretend to be Stewart Copeland at a moment's notice.

 So you have enough sticks to last a while, then?

I gather it's sorta like a 2B butt end that's actually useful for ghost notes and one-hand rolls, not just endless rimshots?

Might just be my ears, but it's always sounded to me like heavier sticks = fuller drum sounds, more low end. Therefore, these must = more rawk.

ah.. those were the pittsburgh rock drummer stick of choice from days of olden. i remember them for being incredibly loud, and for the heaps of hamster shavings you find all over your basement, and woe be to you if you went into said practice area in socks, because your feet would look like you'd been hanging with beavers.

THAT was a spectacular deal, but woe be unto your cymbals... but crack watch is right! noah used to drop about all but the bells... i never knew a drummer who spent more on brass than on rent... but he'd crash on his rides, and the shiz would break, for sure.

but oh man the sound. those thing'sll extract a lotta rock out of a pearl export, no question!

Yeah my sticks just whittle away around the shoulder also, instead of snapping. It's mighty annoying... I mean it's still a fully functional stick, but it's lost its mass so it's not really worth the use any more. I have a pile of neutered 2Bs because of this.
