Yeah, that seems to be just about exactly it. :isay:

It is swell.

I guess he'd have to know it since he took over drums in Dim Mak...

The other really really fast blasty thing where his hands are switching is also super cool.

I think I've got it figured out how the two beats work, but I don't think I'll be able to play them any time soon.

Also I think the PHOENIX EYE FIST could really fucking hurt...

Looks like a good way for some douchebag in an Affliction shirt and a Tapout hat to break his index finger while punching another douchebag wearing the same garb.

Well, I made it with my hand, and then I proceeded to jab myself in the chest. The thumb holds the index finger steady, and it hurt. My chest, that is. Yeah. :D

I don't know, if you accidentally swung untrue and hit someone in the less fleshy part of their head..

Then all the force would be focused to the point of your knuckle. I suppose you might hurt your knuckle, but you also might have poked a hole in their skull.

Trust me Cam. I got my orange belt in karate. :monocle:

Brandon Thomas was one of those doods who it only took about four minutes of me hearing him do crazy shit for him to join the list. Kind of like the first time i heard Sean Reinert, and there is that lightbulb that popped on: "This guy is important. Pay attention."

This Ulcerate fellow, i felt had some good ideas right from the start, but i wasn't 100% sure of. But the more i hear, the more i like. I like the way he leaves space in weird places, and then crams a shittonne of random stuff in other ones. And he plays very dynamically for a death metal dood. And i really enjoy the footsie flim flam bidness he goes to on occasion with the kicks. The stuff that is like Meshuggah's Bleed, but like, not mindnumbingly dull at it. :red:

I am yet to fully check out this band because well, the instrumentation other than the guitars seemed a bit monotonous to me. But the drums are top of the heap, for sure.

Totally. Actually i think all of the HE stuff he did was pretty solid, but since then, i am a lot less into what he has been doing, on any level other than a cerebral one.

Like, i am glad that he is trying to stretch out, and trying to bring the metal doods in closer to the Doods Who Actually Get Paid For Playing The Drums, but i have always found "drum clinic" drummers to be dull as shit to listen to, and what he has been up with the Serpents Rise shit, etc, to very much strikes me in that vein. :idk:

But back when he was a bit more focused at being a sort of death metal drummer hitman, i liked his playing a lot more.

So back on the subject of that triplet lick Brandon Thomas does in Pheonix Eye Fist...

Tony Williams incorporates it around 2:10 and on...

On this subject, this beat popped out when i was doing some mic positioning tests earlier today: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... D=10342767

It is not right, but it is some similar concepts.

Hey cool... it's like the 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2 version of it. :nods:

Yeah, i hadn't listened to it since, well, since i posted the video, and for some reason i was thinking it was in 1s and 2s, not all 2s. I actually like it the way i played it, but i am going to have to learn it that way anyhow. Mechanically, i don't get it 100%, but if i don't think about it, it comes together, even though i don't get it. I also want to accent the opening/closing hi-hat more, and extend the thing so it goes longer. Definitely a funky bit of beat.
