well, i was reading about ken kesey's acid tests, and it got me thinking.....

basically, for my band's live shows, instead of just us playing, we play in a dark room, and have light shows etc. Like kaleidiscopic images projected on the walls, lasers, blacklights, glove light shows, strobes etc, all following the music in a cool way. basically, a psychedelicized, rock version of a rave. people can go tripping if they want, but won't be advertised as anything drug related. just like advertised as a cool experience, mind manifesting shit, a sensory overload, etc. people can dance and interact, or immerse themselves in the experience, and just think etc. whatever they please.

how does this sound? it will cost a lot of money, but with the rave scene huge today (at least in SD), it will provide a good alternative, and a great way to spread to a larger audience and give younger people different flavors.

whatever just because it has been done before doesn't mean it's not a good idea... the point is, i think i can make this popular and reach a wide audience.

Rock n' roll shows are about imbibing alcohol and picking up loose women, not introspective meditation.

I never said it wasn't a good idea, I was actually implying you should look up Flaming Lips live shows, because they already do that. But they also do that to a crowd of people on a lot of drugs. If you plan on doing this, you have to take into consideration people will think you and your audience are on drugs, and people at your show will probably be on drugs (if it did become popular). If you are cool with being considered a "drug" or "hippie" band then go for it.

You do realize that 90% of people don't give a flying fuck about art or music as an art form, right? In order for music or art to manifest anything for most non-musicians, they have to be on drugs.
