I'll bet there are some rudiment demos on shit like youtube that show some applications.

Once you have something basic even like the RLRRLRLL paradiddle down 100% solid and quick, you can play some really silly sounding(but dead simple to play) shit all over the place.

Learning to mix the doubles and singles, but still to still be able to keep in count so that you can keep a groove going without ever getting confused about where you are in time, is like 9/10 of the battle for fresh and unique awesomeness(for arm stuff and fills) as a drummer. And a lot of it is just training the muscle memory to pull it off correctly with out you having to be all "right left right right left right left left...." in your head. Once you are there, all kinds of crazy shit can happen.

I shall take your advice and use it wisely.

Yarr, he is kind of a badass, who i only got into more recently. But then i quickly got really into it.

Waayyyyyy back in the day, he used to play guitar in a hardcore band that i loved loved, Citizen's Arrest. What he is doing now could not be too much more different if it tried, but it pretty close to being almost as good, just in a totally different field.

His middle band, Chisel, is pretty okay too, though i find his vocals a bit annoying on much of that stuff. Like, he is too all over the place melodically or something. The Pharmacists stuff is much better for his vocals, IMO.

A few of his melodies have sort of a celtic folk feel to them.


I like it. I might check out the hardcore band too.

Yeah that celtic-esque melody thing pops up in kind of random parts across the various records. Do you have any of the other ones?

Actually I used to roll with scene kids back in my high school days, and kind of grew a small appreciation for teh coar.

Recommendations as far as specific albums? All I listened to was Shake the Streets which I enjoyed. Also listened to a one Citizen's Arrest song and dug it.

Yeah, that is good. That was the first EP, i believe.

The LP, Colossus is also doap. Kinda weird sound quality (especially the guitar sound) though. That is the first thing i bought of theirs, after hearing it on a college radio station hardcore show.

Wow, i just realized that would have been in about 1991, and that the LP was brand new then. Odd.
