I have been tearing the house apart looking for my keys. They are on a bright fluorescent goddamn pink keychain for a fairly obvious reason (to make them fairly obvious).

They were in my pocket the whole time.

You are EXACTLY like my roommate, who is incapable of leaving the house once. He always has to walk right back in to grab his keys/wallet/cellphone, which he can never find.

I lose all three of those on a daily basis. It's better now in the Biggerhaus. In the Smallerhaus there was no room for all my things (and one tiny closet for my clothes... which are currently filling two and are still not put away completely.) so no matter how neat I kept it, things would still get lost, because I am a total airhead when it comes to practical matters. Like Having My Fucking Things When I Leave The House.

Anyhow, I am going to the guitarstore to look at guitars and maps. They have an 18w Marshall Bluesbreaker combo, a Bassman and some violins and violas. Violas count as guitars to me, dammit.

Also, having a guitarstore in walking distance again kicks ass.

I think I just secured 2x g12h30 heritage for $150

'74 Silverface head with matching cab. Was already sold and had a big "do not touch" sign on it. I was a bit let down, though there was a nice semihollow violin bass I liked the feel of, all McCartney style up in that. And a silver ESP F-series bass which looks like a weapon but I would rock anyhow. One of the few pointythings I genuinely like the look of. (Had a trans red neck through BC Rich Mockingbird bass which was pretty cool once...) The Bluesbreaker combo, I'll come back to take a look at. It's in pristine shape.

The clerk there today was... not the usual guy I'm used to and frankly kinda rude. But he was giving this black dude the hard sell on a Tobias bass... dude was tearing it up, too... I assume he was there with his band, three dudes ripping it up on teh funks, guitarist, bassist and someone I will presume was the drummer 'cause he wasn't playing and thus therefore I suppose not tearing it up.

The one decent looking viola they had was strung up with some sort of nylon strings. Like cut-down guitar strings or something? It felt really weird. Not acceptable. The tension seemed all fucked-up to me and not what I'm used to.




Also, my roommate makes amazing spicy roasted red pepper hummus. That and a loaf of Kalamata olive bread was dinner. We talked about foodstuffs, Steve Albini, Swans and Diamanda Galas. (among other things.) We kind of have similar tastes a bit, the extent of which continues to surprise me. Like, I knew this, but goddamn.

Also, i just pulled out my work shirts for work this morning, and im baffled how a drycleaner is able to put wrinkles in my wrinkle proof shirts. Like fuck, these are no iron shirts that are NOT supposed to wrinkle. fuckin drycleaners.

There have been a few mentions of Bassmen here lately.

On a vaguely related note, I have a bass tracking session with my metalliband on Odin's Day.

Listening to a bunch of Sabbath and Hendrix has made me realize that I really love the mixing done on these albums. Its balanced but very far from symmetrical (I'm talking about panning).

Someone is selling a Laney VC50 for $100. Fucked up effects loop, needs a fuse and knobs but everything else is fine (listing specifically says the tranys are good)... I'm thinking this just might be my next project.
