Small things that produce very low notes: http://www.contrabass.com/pages/rackett.html The larger one goes as low as a contrabassoon. (5-string bass for those not orchestrally inclined.) And "great bass rackett" is a winful name for an instrument.

That is an historically accurate depiction of General Washington upon his trusty steed, Petunia. Also, on the subject of US Presidents: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/question-7-who-would-win-in-a-fight

 Re: The Chris Thread
Wait, what exactly am I looking at here? At first I thought it was a super-awesome prosthetic leg, but there's no joint. Then I thought "tattoo?" but you can see the texture of the surface beneath, so... Photoshop job, or something strange and not actually on a living human?

 Re: The Chris Thread
Hmmm never saw Grant as a trem guy. Woulda thought hard tail. Also, in the end, I still would have money on Roosevelt, but a tag team of Teddy and Andy-Jack would be epic.

 Re: The Chris Thread
Something about the beard makes me think Les Paul or Explorer, too. I like the image of FDR waiting stealthily underwater. I think LBJ would have hung in there pretty well, too- he was a pretty big dude with a foul attitude, and seemed to have an extra helping of fuck you with whatever it is they eat for breakfast in West Buttfuck, Texas. Rocks and gila monsters or something along those lines. Here was a guy who championed civil rights in no small part to piss off his enemies. Also, this charming anecdote:
