I just had to give notice to one of my bands. Besides being Izzy, I got the guitar/keys on a VERY busy band that gets paid real monies. Minimum 5 gigs a month. Bad part is the band I gave notice to is a nice bunch of guys

Hopefully you can keep the nice guys as friendly jam-mates when the mood strikes, but alas in the life of a gigging musician you have to make the monies.

so heres my ram story.

prequel: i built an i7 computer last yera, bought the cheapest ram i liked (patriot viper 6 gig set, blue, 9-9-9-24 @ 1600mhz). This ram was released in 2008

Fast forward to last sunday: the ram is discontinued, and i want more ram without throwing out my old awesome lifetime warranty set, so i look for my old ram. EVERYWHERE IS SOLD OUT. I find one sketchy website that has it, im convinced theyre guna rip me off.

fast forward to today: no response from them since "your credit card cleared!" sunday night. Not even a shipping invoice. Thinking im guna call visa. Walk in the door. Package, my name on it, its my ram. Its thursday and its already here

uhm. I dont NEED 12 gigs of memory. i just want to be equipped for the apocolypse.

And sometimes, i play sins of a solar empire, and it gets memory leaks, and leads to memory dumping and crashing when it fills up. SO NOW IT WILL NEVER FILL up, and crash in the 7th hour of a game, as my navy is sweeping the stars.

And also, i keep like a million tabs open in firefox. And then i dont close it before i start gaming. And before, i'd peak around 5.5 gigs of ram. Now i can leave a million things open and see how much i can use for the lulz.

Oh, and the number 1 ultimate reason for more ram.

On a side note, I want to order a hitman. Just to say I have. Problem is I don't know who I want to put a contract on.



As for the ram, I read somewhere that there is a way of allocating the extra bits to do something else so it is all getting used etc. etc. but you probably know that already. Whatever, 12 gigs of ram means you are fucking set for a while, and can browse multiple porn sites at once. I say, good enough reasons for me.

I don't remember making an announcement about this (though I may have and just forgot), but I have been driving for about a week now.

I have almost finalised my dates for going over to Canuckia and it looks as though I shall be in Vancouver 12th-15th August (maybe a day or two longer) before heading up to Whistler to shred* some mtb trails for a couple of months. Is Vancouver anywhere near you/driving distance to meet up? I know you're somewhere in north 'murrica so it's probably miles away

you can "ramdisk" which is like setting up some ram as a harddrive. But i only really play battlefield, and its a 9 gig game. So technically i could play with 3 gigs of ram and the rest on the "ramdisk" but id be more comfortable if i wanted more. It will work better with other, smaller games.

That's most of my wardrobe. To be fair, today's shirt has white in it as well. Red and purple are also acceptable colors. But I'm down with the monochrome.
