Post Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Had another mini ampfest at our rehearsal room. We produced a sound that can only be described as colossal.

Basically a laney AOR100 and an Iommi sig run in stereo with the AOR hit with a sonic titan and the Iommi with a russian muff and an eq pedal. This then into a memory man with hazarai into the input of the amps. No loop needed as the amps run load and clean.
Monsterous tones!

As someone who's actually jamming on some Sabbath riffs right now (or was until I got up to acquire beverage), this appeals to me.

Woss a Sonic Titan, anyhow? Some sort of fuzzstortion, I assume?

Haha our new one ends with clean major chords and a harmony line lifted straight from late 60's Bowie!

Bowie has some great chord progressions. Clever bastard. :tu:

Another Garda session at ze big studio tonight. Vocals, mostly. I haven't had the chance to meet up with our d00d there to pick up the drums yet, but I'll be doing that tonight so I can post some of 'em up and we can hack 'em into a drumjam. :nods:

How long did that work out to be? Close to what he thought, or over?

Yeah, that is pretty good, seems like he is getting them out a little quicker. Before, he was saying five months but doing it at rate of more like 6-7.

Feb 24 to Jul 11 would make 4.5-5 months-ish? That is definitely better.

When you get it you will have to review it, and say if you find it to do anything useful for you, with you gears and needs. :isay:

So my friend is hosting a Jam/party thing and I'm taking the kitty... I can't wait to get to hear how well it holds up in a band setting. Will post results tommorow :eyebrows:

btw... what are the tonal qualities that makes the Timmy so desirable?

It is a very clear sounding OD. Not much dirt, probably less than a tubescreamer, but the way it delivers it is very natural sounding, and not all compressed and mudded up like a TS can be. It has a nice EQ as well.

I like it into a clean amp when i want the amp to behave as though it is turned up to borderline breakup, even if it is turned down.

For how i use it, it is almost more of a utility than an effect. In my practice amp setup, i just leave it on all o the time as my 'base sound'. :idk:

That one is on my list. I have liked just about all of the 386-based dirt pedals i have built. It is very similar in circuit topology to the Krank Distortus Maximus and the Lovepedal Purple Plexi 800, two that i enjoy a fair bit.

Seems to be voiced much more sludgehappy though, which at the moment, i am into.

Its retarded through my AOR. I like a little more saturation and a hair more fizz (yeah yeah) personally though.

Right now I have gas for a stereo memory man with hazarai so I can fuck around with trippy delays and looping dirty sludge riffs so I can harmonize parts. That'll confuse people

You could totally fuck with the first stage to get more saturation, and actually, the harder you hit the front end of a 386, the fizzier they get.

If it isn't your pedal, they are simple enough to build from scratch.

Its belongs to a dude I share our rehearsal space. It does have a high gain IC with it too but I havent tried it yet. I have a loan of it and his memory man for next rehearsal so I'm getting down early and dicking off with them.

I'm also business partners with the guy but thats a story for another time :isay:

Jam party was a blast! While my amp lacks just a bit in volume(not too surprised, might be the cab though, it seems to be more directional then what I previously thought), the tonal quality is top notch. Ego boost comments all night. I also got a lot of complements on my strat's finish and playability which helped my ego. Supposedly I might tech for some guitar player in a band, but I doubt he will actually call.

Overall annoyed that I had to leave early as I have a test in 6 hours
