Yarr. Basically, i printed out a couple Real Floyd routing patterns, and the Ghetto Floyd routes were so different, that i wouldn't be able to use them without having a lot more wood missing than was necessary.

And because i had to for sure provide a solid bit of New Wood for the new trem posts, AND because i would need to do third and fourth custom plugthings for the edges of the chisel party, it just seems like an awful lot of work to put four or five carefully made bocks of wood in, and then like have, five or six glued pieces where there use to be just one.

This way, it is just two pieces: the original body, and the new plug. Less joints, less glue, more consistent woodgrain situations, and minimal or no funky edges where new routes might cross between old guitar and new plug.

My main concern is whether the pine will be hard and solid enough for the bridge studs so they won't move or loosen over time and Sick Divebomb Dimebag Squeals.

But like i said, worst case scenario, i will just fucking route the thing out again and go with a harder wood.

I haven't decided yet if i want to block up the neck pickup too, so i can do a new standard full bucker route there, or if i will just leave it an SC route and maybe go with a hot blade bucker of some sort.

Aesthetically, i think i would like to go with a full sized bucker though.

Ooh, keep us updated with moar photo journaliing! So when the glue dries you'll sand that block down and get routing for bridge and pickups?

Yarr, imma plane+sand the block down flush, and then maybe take the paint off(i like the way the paint looks, but i will never be able to match it where the new block is).

Then i will have to decide about the neck pickup. Because of the angle and type of route that is there, i think i will need put another block there so i can make a clean/proper fullsize bucker rout.

Then, i will probably rout it for pickups, but i won't drill or rout the Floyd holes until i actually have the bridge i intend to use, as there is a bit of variation between what the major common Floyds need for body holes and stud mounting.

I think I may have an RG 570 body here with a square heel. Wouldhaps you like a donation? I may even have a few covers for the body rear......

Anyhoo, what i have done today is moastly inhale primer dust and put paint chips in my hair.

I had this container of supposedly totally badass paint stripper on the shelf that i was looking forward to using for the first time on this guitar, but it turns out that the shit is so badass that it ate its way through the fucking metal container it was in and destroyed itself. I never even got a chance to open it. It is somewhat disapointing, though i must say, if the shit was that brutesy, maybe i am glad that i didn't get a chance to hurt myself with it? I am notoriously bad about such things RE: gloves-and-respiratorsy bits use.

Anyhow, so this basically meant that i had to do it the olde waye, i.e. have at it wif a nice wide sharp chisel and a very careful hand.

















And so it came to pass, that this occurred:



It is a start anyhow. Interesting to note that the body was painted a very bright white and that the off-whiteness of it comes from a clearcoat which either bore some yeller tint, or alternately was highly susceptible to UV's suntanning effects. Mayhap a bit o' both.

Anyhow, imma sand the rest of it down tomorrow or so, and decide what i want to do about the neck pickup rout.

Proper safety precautions are for the weak and decadent bourgeoisie. You should sneer at them like the good proletarian worker you are.

Yarr, i have just barely positive money meseff. Which is just as bad because it is too little to do anything with for fear of becoming negative money.

As for Safety, i have had for quite a while now, the desire to some day make an OSHA inspector cry. I just think that would be fun. Safety is of course, the anti-BELT. Though BELT has provided us with hard hats, impact resistant lens plastics, and advanced micro filter technology, he doesn't really intend for us to use them. Their existence is like a test.

It occured to me that Chisel Party would be a fine name for... something, but i could not figger what.

Perhaps a Milton Bradley style children's board game? It would be a colorful board, like Candyland, a little spinner thing, and four very sharp chisels. I don't know how the gameplay/rules go yet, but in a general sense, i suspect it will be subject to a manufacturer's recall shortly after hitting the shelves...

There are circumstances when some moderate level of safety precautions or protective gear might be advisable, I think. Like, say, a battlefield, or a riot, or the vacuum of space. But realistically, is, say, full medieval plate armor, or riot gear (complete with shield) or a space suit really practical wear for a wood shop? Doubtful. Besides, it's not as if you have any employees, so OSHA can bugger off.

And if you're using slave labor at any point, they're property of the company anyhow, and thus not subject to safety regulations, amirite?

The board game idea works, and well. I can almost picture the box in my mind.

Use of armor and whatnot in a field of battle, is more about making the battle more interesting, than actual Safety, anyhow. I mean, the safest thing will always be boring old diplomacy and peaceful cooperation. No sir, we go to war for the spectacle, for the sport, of it. All the heavy gear is just so it doesn't end too soon.

If anything, all of the protective gear really only makes war even more unsafe. Because now we have to crack through the outer shell to get to the squishy parts. Which most likely means: high explosives, and lots of them.

No sir, unarmored combat is much safer. Hell, one can do it with a mere shiv or sharpened stick. Those are Very Safe Things. Hardly even weapons at all.

What do you see, a photograph of a small group of too-broadly-smiling children looking down at the board, clutching chisels with frightening glee, or some sort of illustrated artwork that depicts something far more fantastic than what actual gameplay will entail?

The former, though not necessarily looking down at the board. Definitely brandishing chisels with ridiculous grins. Bright, bold and colorful. Perhaps somewhat "retro" looking? Because I'm not sure there could be something more fantastic than the ensuing gameplay. This is definitely the sort of thing where following the rules (and, of course, safety precautions) to the letter would make things decidedly less fantastic.

All this mention of OSHA is making me giggle. The amount that I have been harassed for not wearing my hard hat and monkey'ing about the scaffold is quite ridiculous. Fuck ladders, yo. Just lemme use the cross braces, swear that shit feels more safe.

Also: Fuck gloves. Can"t stand wearing them, and I have fairly gnar hands as a result.

You know, the sort of thing you might see as a young child and think "Oh hell yes, wizard duels with lazer dragons and elves made out of candycanes and wild west adventuretimes! Quick, lets play!"

And then it is just like basically every single other board game ever made. A spinner or a pair of dice, a nondescript wooden or plastic character in multiple colors, and a board with a bunch of dots on it.

I love the general cruelty of that concept. Like "Oh i am sorry, did we get your imagination going there? No, actually it is just another board game. Yeah. Kind of sucks that it is raining today, eh?"




Now the issue in general arises, what will the point of Chisel Party, be?

You should wear the hard hat around at all times as long as you're not at work. Only take it off for work.

The no gloves thing I couldn't do as I'm far too paranoid about my hands and generally very annoyed when my clumsy ass manages to cut, burn, abrade or otherwise damage them. But then again, I'm far too prissy and fussy to be doing construction anyhow. (Which is probably for the best. You don't want me trying to build shit. Not if you want it to stay together, at least.)

And I don't like being up on ladders even when I know they're stable. You're probably right.

I fucking haaaaaaaate ladders. I was promised a jetpack fucking future, whatthefuck do i have to deal with some sketchy-ass forty foot ladder bullshit for? That shit isn't even unsafe godamnit. Unsafe, i could deal with. This shit is just straight up stupid.

Tall ladders were designed as a manner by which more dim-witted members of society could be persuaded to accidentally, but conveniently, fall to their deaths, thus relieving a certain pressure on society for having to continue to accommodate their ridiculous needs. They were designed for the overall good. But that shit backfired. In fact, they were probably not made unsafe enough, because dumbasses rarely actually fall off them at all. And really, in a cruel twist, those who might see the dangers and sketchiness of the devices, actually become slightly more likely to fall from them due to the general anxiety that knowing how fucking sketchy that shit really is, causes.

As an aside, the one with the red nose is a real creeper, no? Aside from the nose and complete lack of teeth (no doubt from years of smoking meth), the eyes (and what's with the blue eyeshadow, anyhow? Not that I'm one to talk, but...) and facial expression make him look like he's at least half in the bag anyhow. (Again, not one to talk, but...) And then... Weren't we just talking about work gloves? Those seem far too sturdy to be some sort of formal uniform dress gloves. I don't think he's really the kind of person you want your children around.

Also, i feel like this is a winning strategy.
