yes, use it to your full advantage.

I've been finding I get these awful sinus headaches (crippling) the morning following gigs. Somewhat common of you use your head voice to sing a lot. For those of you that have not heard my voice, it is rather deep and while it would sound super awesome in country, for rock/pop there is little to no use for my voice unless I use my head voice. I need to find a way to relieve this though.

I would guess it's technique/breathing related? I have sorta the reverse problem; it took me a good long while to make sense of my upper register, which is closer to where my speaking voice actually is. It isn't very resonant either, so projecting is a bitch, especially with the lower notes, which oddly I hit really well, if quietly. It was really a matter of just finding something that worked and allowed me to hit the notes I needed to with some decent volume. Though I'm not swinging for the fences live either. Usually. I admit to changing parts around when I know I can't hit it or when I think I really could this time, high or low. The really low ones kinda throw people.

Just because you don't have to put it in a case to take it with you doesn't mean it's any easier an instrument, y'know? And you would know. It's definitely do-able to take a deeper voice and extend it up. Easier, I would guess, than the other way around. If it's giving you headaches, I'm guessing the way around that is a breathing thing. Problem is I have no idea what.

That is visually awesome. :nods:

Do you have yer pedalboard under the synths? (Looks like the MM6 and the Ion?)

ahh you are quite observant. Yes MM6 and Micron (lil cousin to Ion) and the pedal board is compacted to Polytune>buffer with tuner mute>DLC>Timmy>Phaser>PS-6>TunaMelt>Carbon Copy

The fuzz gets switch on and off with the tune melt or PS-6 depending on the gig

an interesting weekend so far.

i got to a great stopping point in a particularly fussy mixing project. i put it away for the eve. went back this morning, and my interface's on/off switch will not allow me to turn it ON.

i also got a 1965 fisher 400 full tube receiver. for $0. THIS i am excited about.

i am not so excited about the broken interface a week out from another job, and right before the pre-release deadline for the other project

Have you been able to figure out a fix for the interface?

What tube types in the Fisher? My grandfather had one of those IIRC, i think his was 6L6-based? When we were clearing out my grandparent's house, i went looking specifically for it, or parts of it(he, like me(or the other way around), was the type to take them apart), but i think it wound up going to one of my aunts who also had fond memories of it.

i actually was able to figure it out. our work electronics tech said that switches shit the bed ALL the time.. so he does TONS of it.. and it seems like that's what happened to him. he said rocker switches poop out a lot- so just go to rat shack and get a new DPDT rocker and chuck it in. it's on terminal plugs too- so it's even easier. phew.. i think i'll do the surgery tonight, and i'll get back to ya... fingers crossed.

the fisher LOOKS like it's 6l6 based-- but it's actually 7868s. apparently, impossible to find-- but theyre making new ones nowadays and from what i've read, you can swap them with 7591's too. the same tech is an old fisher-phile to boot-- and he said he'd help me redo the thing (swap the old rectifier/power caps/filter caps etc.) for the cost of a pizza (!!).. he's had 3 of 'em.. so he knows the job pretty well :D

Noted. The footswitch is why I got rid of my Marshall TSL, though those were pushbuttons. at $120 a pop and cheapshit switches breaking under normal use and pot metal screws that were impossible to remove...

I'm glad you had it taken care of in short order. Mine's currently at the studio and just stays on with the computer unless I need to re-start it or power everything down. I opened mine up once to see if there was anything obvious I could do to tamper with it (opamp swap, etc.) but buggered if I could figure it out. Best of luck to you.

Also: Nice. Score. Save for the oddball tube requirement. Lettuce gnow how awesome it sounds.

Oh- you'd mentioned a while back but I think I forgot to send the email (one of those "passed out in front of the computer" nights...) KEFs. My bassist has a set, floorstanding. I looked up the model, they aren't even the super-pricey ones. They are awesome. The detail and imaging was great.

Shooting Russian Prince all by my lonesome.

It's not very pleasant to drink. This is not a good vodka.

Russian Standard, on the other hand, is quite nice, and reasonably priced. My friend discovered it when she was in Toronto the one time, so I know it's kicking around there somewhere. We used to have it chilled, neat- like proper Slavs- before we went out.

Yes Russian Standard is quite good. My Russian friends buy that one, as far as they are concerned any other brand can fuck off.

My favourite vodka is Wodka Wyborowa. Fack, that feels good to shoot.

I'm mixing an album for a pretty big local band that may or may not be released. Don't know how I feel about that... oh well, money is money.

I've fried my ears and brain today, so I'm going to bed at all of 6:18pm. I feel like an old man.
