The stripes do a really good job of emphasizing your junk.

Yeah, when he finally gives up on the thread being lost to the one-posters and starts answering everything in haiku = definitely a high point.

I knew what I was dealing with and that sounded fairly accurate.

It also reminds me of the Stoned Sheriff. That was... we were in college at the time, like ten years ago, but still is funny as fuck.

Three of us worked at the 7-11 in the town we grew up in. Whose owner, incidentally, was killed by her husband in an infamous local murder case not too long ago. She was really nice. He was kinda creepy.

Anyhoo, myself and my other friend who worked there went to visit the bass player from my band at the time, who just got out of work. It was the middle of the summer, we walked, it was nice out. We're standing outside, he's having a smoke, we're talking with the overnight guy. Sheriff's car pulls up. Car #63, if I'm remembering correctly. Dude gets out. Rather, dude turns off the car, takes the keys out of the ignition, locks the doors, gets out.

They never do that. They leave that shit running. Who's gonna boost a sheriff's car, right?

We give these guys coffee all the time. We know what we're looking at. This was odd. So we go inside.

Guy's face is all red, his eyes are all bloodshot. He goes and stares at the bottled water for a bit. Gets one. Then he goes over to the Twinkies. Grabs some.

Sheriff guy comes up to the counter. Sets down the Twinkies, gets out his wallet, all paranoid-stoned.

"What time do you close?"

It's around midnight. There's a sign on the door that says "Open 24 Hours". It's the only place in town save for the one gas station that is. It's right across the street from the police station.

"Do you sell gas here?"

There's not a gas pump in sight. Never has been, never will be. Also, his is the only car in the parking lot. (And don't you guys have gas at your station you get for free from the town?)

"Thanks man"

He leaves without his Twinkies or bottled water.

Night clerk comes up to us.

"Dude was stoned out of his fuckin' mind."

We  -ed.

I could rock it. I like the one I'm wearing in my avatar, but honestly it's a bit small on me in the shoulders and the one closure is hard to keep, well, closed, being a six-foot-tall size 6. I want to give it to my other guitarist's wife, who is a very pretty tall waif-thin Japanese lady, but it would fit her better than me.

It made the last part of the thread worth reading, just for his haiku responses.

Irony: my bassist mentioned something today about wanting to record at Electrical and how his rates are reasonable. I replied that I knew and have actually been listening to his work a lot lately.

Totally impossible unless we had way more money than we do- and we have a fine studio accessible for cheapish here for anything we decide is unsuitable recorded, well, here- which, frankly, is as good as we'll get without going to the one real proper publicly accessible studio in this damn city- it isn't any worse than we'd find anywhere else and we're not paying for time- but I found the idea amusing. Or, at least, that he'd say that now considering what I've been listening to a lot of lately.

It's funny, I was thinking "that would actually be an odd and inappropriate combination" and then I thought "despite all the programming, I'm prone to leaving my real instruments pretty well unfuckedwith", which is true. I got into recording pre-digital and didn't have a choice in the matter re: getting the sound at the source. As for the arrangements, most of our layers are programming, and our songs are all duplicatable as a four-piece with a sequencer, we all do backup vox...

...and now I'm thinking about the idea of a more live-ish recording of an industrialish rock band and thinking that could be pretty intense if done right.

Another, quicker, more recent Albini interview i just stumbled across: http://www.gq.com/blogs/the-q/2010/09/steve-albini.html

Last question is the best, considering who the interview is for.
