I have a downstairs neighbor/roommate/friend who like, totally likes playing guitar.
Despite the fact he has no idea how to play guitar.
Thus, all of my guitars are in hardshells, and fucking stay there unless I take them out. I am also a fan of guitar stands, except they eat up so much real estate in my limited space. It's like, fuck I could put a cab there instead and just cop leans.
I am considering getting wall hangers. Or one of those multi-guitar racks, like the ones that fold up into a guitar case thingy, those would be nice.

I hate buying cases, luckily I buy about 95% used and somehow get hsc 's with them. I have a bunch of guitar stands and a few wall hangers, but everything is leaning on a cab....

Oh yeah, I also have locking hard shell cases. And the key remains on my ring at all times.
No one touches my guitars but me.

There are some wall hangers up at Snaxodrome II, but the previous occupants who put them up did such a shoddy job of it we do not trust hanging things we paid A Lot Of Money For on them. So we use them as coathangers and spare-cable holders.

What pedal, if I may ask?
Obscure fuzzy wuzzy EH Muff Fuzz. Quite different from the big muff... and oddly, also quite a bit different from the earlier "Muff Fuzz".
Sounded interesting so i decided to give it whatfor:
Actually, i have decided that i pretty much have all of the boosty/overdrivey shit i will ever need, and that i should focus on different flavors of fuzzy for a bit. I have about three other ones in various stages of workings-on, as well, just random fuzzthings: Maestro MFZ-1, Sam Ash Astrotone, and one other i don't remember at the moment. EDIT: Oh, it is the silicon transistor version of the fuzz factory!
The Muff Fuzz is the only one i had (well, most of) the parts for though.

I still think you could probably design/build a few pedals that would sell on HCFX. You know how they love fuzz over there, the more obscure the better. They are, as I should well know, hipsters for that shit.
All you really need are a couple examples of your workmanship to get you started. Maybe clone a couple of popular pedals for someone then have them post awesome reviews over there. Like, I bet if you were to build a nice Fuzz Factory or Timmy clone, you could get your name out there for some more original designs. If only there were someone who was looking for such pedals.

Fuzzyfuzzy! I need a proper fuzz myself so I can use my Geiger Counter for what it's meant for, which is being really awful sounding. The Muff Fuzz in the video sounds, you're right, nothing like a Big Muff from what I can tell?
Also, I have another show booked for April 1st and we have our own soundd00d now.

I would never sell that kind of copy, or even build one for anyone other than a friend. Especially the Timmy. Paul C. has enough troubles as it is with folks ripping him off. I would build whatever for friends and maplitonians, but i would need something a bit more "my own" to be able to sell it at all with a clear conscience. I am kind of stupidly moral about certain sorts of things. This is why i will most likely die cold and poor under an freeway bridge. But whatever.
I don't know that i am ruthless enough, or enough of a prick, to make money in the pedal or amp business.
Actually, at the moment, i can only think of maybe one commercial builder who doesn't seem like a shitbag. And, well, that would be Paul C.

The very first Muff Fuzz(which IIRC was also the first EH product) was a totally simple two transistor shitfuzz. Not a great sounding pedal into a clean amp. This is actually what the modern Double Muff is based on, two of those in one box.
Later on came the Big Muff.
And then later on than that, came the second version of the Muff Fuzz, the one in the video there. Rather than transistors, it uses op amps like say a Tubescreamer, but for a thicker, more angry porpoise.
The sound quality of the video isn't great, but i think i hear something i like in the way it makes its fuzzdirt. SO i figure fuggit, buildit, and see what the word is.

ALSO, Dev, i was thinking, you might actually enjoy something in the way of a Crowther Hotcake over the Timmy... It also has an interesting clear boosty/OD sound, but it (UNlike the timmy) also gets right pissed off, completely out of the blue, at the top end of the drive knob. You might diggit.

Oh no I totally feel you there. I just meant using a couple of clones (though not labeled as such) to just be like, "Hey this guy does good work. Turns out, he does all sorts of crazy designs!"
I actually had a little mod idea for the FF I know you would know what I am talking about. IIRC you said you could wire a pot to a switch that, when engaged, would reverse the input of that pot? So like, if it was dialed in for full out, you could flip the switch and it would be barely open? I know my terminology sucks dick.
Say you put that on the gain pot for a FF, so you could have the awesome supah-fuzz novelty tones, then flip the switch for that barely-enough-gain-to-be-a-fuzz fuzz tone. Am I just smoking crack or did you say you could do something similar to this? If so, that would be a really awesome feature for a supah-fuzz type pedal.
I really think you could really go with a design motif of, "This shit is practical motherfuckers" with the crazier designs that tend to be a bit noveltyesque, like FF style fuzzes. Not just modding other people's designs, but taking basic designs and just apply good old practical design modifications to them.
I think I smoked too much crack today.
Any linkage to some decent hot cakes clips? I heard a something something about them on the other place not too long ago IIRC.

Unfortunately all of the ones on youtoob are really shitty, so i won't poast them, nor would i advise that you seek them out.
I am doing some recording for a friend's band tomorrow, but monday i will try to do some sort of clippy thing demoing what the Hotcake is on about.

Right buggered if I can figure out what I want or even need for my tracking/rough mix personal setup. I'm actually a bit confused about these PCI-based whatnots and what I even need to get shit into the 'puter from there.

Hmm. SSL Alphalink seems reasonable.

Looking for what? A/D conversion? I don't get what you seek.

Multichannel A/D, yes. Stuff to get lotsa tracks into/out of a box that's functioning as a smart tape machine. The sort of thing I never really put much consideration into before because it was simply not a financially viable option and a 1u Firewire interface with acceptable conversion and eight pres I'll never notice the sound of was the best thing I'm going to find. I have a few ideas in mind for how I want to approach this and am really only at the research + pricing shit out stage.
I think it would make sense to start with a good converter whatnot and a couple nice outboard pres for doing basics and build from there? I'd be content taking stuff to the Big Studio for final mixes in perpetuity, but having proper nice shit to record with and fool with the mixes some would be a treat.

Hmm. Yes, fancypantsy. I have not really even begun to look into that stuff yet, aside from taking a small gander at some of the Avid HD and Native shit.
If it were me, i might be inclined to go for some sweetass preamps and mics and and shit first, and just use the decent A/D shit native to your interface as a for now thing. I am definitely not much of an audiophile(no negative connotations here) though. I like things that will give me big bang obvious benefit in the largest amounts first. And the Focusrite already has pretty nice biz innit. Particularly compared to like the mixer i have here that was formerly yours. For my setup, i would have to start with interface-preamp-A/D upgrades, for sure, with that as my starting point.
But yeah, if i had something more solid like the Focusrite to start with, i would probably jump headfirst into Lunchboxland. And then if i was still hungry, possibly then into Neumantown...
