I had a fine day of tracking vocals down at the 'Drome. It feels good to finally be in a headspace where I can get things done again.

So I'm tampering with the vocals on Extinguisher here at home, and I've realized I can actually bog down my machine. Might be something to do with the like ten instances of Guitar Rig + bassmap modeling, the multiple gigs of drum samples in RAM, convolution 'verbs, Decapitator, etc. all vying for space. If I am gonna be working on vox, I should bounce those drums to audio, 'cause that's eating up a ton 'o stuff. Freezing, in Logic, seems to do little good- and those samples are all still sitting there, so...

It looks like the majority of amps has left for guitarampboard.com. Usually these exodus' fall flat on their face but this one seems to have hit the ground running.

Maybe it will evolve into a small, tightly knit group with distinctive idiosyncrasies.

And then we'll engage them in warfare, over the interwebs.

It is not surprising though that they could basically move the whole crew over like that. A new forum, but basically aiming to be exactly the same as the old forum, without the software change. They even retained the main mods. That is pretty much all that those folks wanted. They weren't looking for a "better" forum with new features or looser rules, they just wanted it the way it was before the software fails.

Here, they would have to sacrifice some clique superiority; the modding and mindset is so vastly different. There, it is all the same, comfortable and nothing really new to build or work out. Much simpler to just keep doing what they were doing than to have to adjust to a new environment in any way.

I forgot to elaborate. What i wound up doing was building a usb bus-powered infrared(with infrared emitters taken out of old TV remotes!) motion capture headset so that i can control camera/head movement in videogames.

The first test was really very promising, so my new aim is to acquire some better infrared LEDs for the porpoise, and also to figure out a way to get a better quality webcam to use as a capture device.

The only reason this is less dorky than building a gaming cockpit for cars/planes out of plywood and putting it in the middle of the livingroom, is that the motion capture device is small enough to hide away in a drawer. Really though, as a functional thing, it is much worse on the dorkscale, obviously.

Probably because of the effective combo punch of depression/unemployment/brokeness. Because i want to do so. But i think my mind is busted. Winter is the worst though. I don't think i would ever aim to take anything over in winter. When things go badly i get very counterproductively rageful this time of year.

Gah. Craftiness like that makes me wish I had some electronic know-how. I have an empty Crybaby case just begging to be used for some kind of pedal project.

Finally catching up on my band and solo and session music whatnots over the past few days. This is much easier now that I'm not shitfaced 24/7.

I really need to stop doing lap reports the day before they are do. Especially since I'm at the university from 6:30-7:00am until 8:30pm that same day.

I kind of want to find a band and start jamming again.

Chris - I understand that depression especially during the Winter months. I'm not sure why I moved from the warmth of LA, but I like the idea of seasons until I'm fucking freezing in winter and don't want to do anything for months at a time. Yet I still plod on doing what I do. If I was in a warm climate all the time I feel I would do more. Then again the winter could just give me a reason to stay a wee bit lazier during those months.
