Today has been a goddamn dildo fight, and not a good one. Motherfucking colleagues across the pond have requested that I send them data in the most arcane, assbackwards, shitsucking format ever. It has been a real chore to code up some shit to meet their requirements. I have a good mind to sent then netCDF files next time and they can fix their own goddamn data

I mean, really, i would be happy with only spring-summer-fall with the occasional freak small snowstorm in fall.

Around here, the five or six month long cold season bears an element of required resource management concerns that basically just makes it a fairly uncomfortable time, especially in the last three or four months of it. I mean, it beats living under a bridge by a long shot, but it is easy for a certain siege town sort of mood to set in.

All of that said, if the winter didn't suck, i am not so sure i would make as good a use of the spring/summer seasons. There is a definitely emotional trigger that goes off there. Sort of like how i periodically have to stop playing guitar or drums for a while before i can start again thinking creatively on either, the Hibernation Time seems to help me line up my motivations into a more productive channel. Even though it sucks and i hate it. You know, because it sucks and i hate it.

I don't know how this sort of process works, but how is it your responsibility to provide the numbers in a format that you don't use but they do? Or is that more of a common courtesy sort of thing? Or is it more a matter of wanting to be sure that they don't fuck the translation up and wind up concluding that you numbers/conclusions are wrong?

Singer sounds like '98 a bit. Early Getup Kids, Braid, Christie Front Drive, Sunny Day style. I used to be more into that flavor vocal than i am currently, but it is still better than say the modern equivalent, or what they call emo now, versus what it was then.

They coordinated the project and they're running the database that everything will eventually go to so they call the shots ultimately. Its usually much less organised than this and people would either supply the data as comma separated variables, netCDF or HDF5 depending on what they usually use or what is the most appropriate. I prefer netCDF as its sell contained and you can add as much metadata to each field as you want and each field can be n-dimensional which saves a lot of headaches. The format they requested is a CSV type and I was dealing with multiple n-dimension datas which tends to not look too pretty when put onto a single line of ascii. The whole point is so people could look at the data in a text editor or load it into excel, this doesn't work too well when you end up generating a ~200x230,000 array of data and 100 lines of header so that it makes some kind of vague sense.

Jamming with that band tonight around 9. Evidently they have equipment but I am thinking of bringing the Jazzmaster and the AC15 (who needs cleans) just in case. And the pedlols.

I am pretty damn nervous, a lot more nervous than I thought I would be. I haven't played with a band for a while, though all former attempts were with bands that played stuff I wasn't really into (and I performed fairly well with them.) These guys actually play stuff I like, so I should in theory perform at least fairly well. I am jamming along with their tracks on Last.FM and seem to be able to figure out riffs and such. They were unclear as to what role I was supposed to be filling, so I have been riffing lead stuff but am about to pay more attention to what chords I can use just in case they want a rhythm guy. Either way is fine, I just want to play with people again. Especially since I have a 50w tube amp that is just begging to be cranked up past 1.

Yeah, that seems like it is about right on. Should be fun, i would think. It is, in my experience, impossible not to feel anxious about such things, but it should fade rapidly once you get there and play a little.

Nah, no cab yet. I was like, "Fuck it, yo". Homie needed money and I have been thinking about getting a larger bass rig for when I am recording and shit, so I figured why the fuck not get a kickass head for peanuts and find a cab here in the next week.
