They will make nothing easier unless you have some direction to go in the first place.
You're not going to figure out "psychedelic" chord progressions by doing acid, you might be able to elaborate off them in new and interesting ways but it's not going to give you the source material.
Learning Beatles songs is great advice, and that will teach you the scales, chords and rhythms they liked to play (you will see patterns if you look closely) and it will pretty much instantly begin to seep into your writing.

With learning a shitload of Beatles tunes, pickup one of the Beatles songbooks, don't get that shit in tab on the web. Seriously. There's a huge difference in learning from a schlep that says a chord is an Am then a properly written book that will tell you that it's actually a Am add9. Beatles were very big on 9, 11's etc, inverting chords.

Agreed; the good thing with Beatles stuff is that it's pretty impeccably documented.

Though not psychedelia, Bowie always had some great chord progressions as well.
