I have some pretty gnarly spiders in my basement where all my gear is. I just leave them be and they leave me be except for occasionally mistaking me for food in my sleep. No big deal, though. They're just several different varieties of harmless fuckers that leave itchy sore welts.

When I used to rehearse in a basement, I discovered spiders liked bass. Play the bass, summon spiders to the bass rig. My idea of a big spider is not very, in the grand scheme of spiders. 'Cept for the guy with the giant one.
