Seems like they've upgraded their security procedures and as such I'm unable to successfully install Photoshop and Premiere CS5 "for free" :mad: :cry:

Has anyone got either program working on Win7 64-bit by any chance?

Photoshop CS3 has been good to me. CS4 is a pile of shit. I'm not hugely bothered about upgrading to Photoshop cs5, but Premiere CS5 is meant to be really good for DSLR video work and a huge improvement over previous versions.

I've had no issues with CS4. :idk:

I kinda hacked my system to block all connections to Adobe's site. :lol:

Can't speak for CS5 though; I only have 4 on my machine at work and necessarily we're all totally legit there.

Dunno, I've found most CS4 to be really slow and buggy compared to CS3. After Effects CS4 seems fine though :idk: I would be legit if possible, just can't afford license fees :red:

Possibly, although the CS4 we had at uni (must have been a legal copy) also seemed rubbish. But those computers were regularly abused by students and wouldn't run many programs properly, I suppose :idk:

I've had no issues with CS4 at all. All the Adobe stuff has treated me well for a good long time. :idk: We've had more issues with QuarkXPress than anything Adobe for a good long while, with the exception of fucking Acrobat Updater launching roughly every other goddamn time I try to shut my work 'puter down. :lol: It happened at a friend's studio the other day too when we were printing some Garda promo stuff before a night when we knew the DJ would be spinning our stuff. :lol: But that's a mere annoyance.

As a general rule, I avoid updating anything whose current version works Just Fine, Thank You, unless it's a major update.

I'm also generally rolling with legit stuff or at least not downloaded, someone else's legit stuff, on Macs that no one else touches though. :idk: With the exception of my one co-worker or my bassist.

Tangential rant ahead.

Fucking Adobe Updater is a HUGE piece of shit. I actually have that process specifically blocked at startup, due to its continual and insistent fuckingsup. :mad:

Actually, pretty much ALL autoupdaters suck huge sacks of rotten cocks. The updater should not do anything at all, except TELL you that there is an update. No auto-download/autoinstall bullshit.

Actually, i only ever let four programs update: Windows, Avast, Firefox, and Reaper.

Windows, because it needs patching. I definitely only let it do certain types of update though.

Avast, because it needs to be up to date with virus defs, and it seems to know when to stay the fuck out of my way.

Firefox, same as Windows, it needs hole patching. Also, i won't be running it while i am doing anything important like recording, so it won't fuck anything up.

Reaper, because the updates are always cool(added features, haven't had one yet (out of like 60 over the last couple years or so?) that did anything but good), and the way they are handled is perfect. One check on startup. If there is an update, it gives you a link to the download, nothing more. If there is no update, nothing happens at all.

But really, the only one i hate more than Adobe Updater was the one that Real Media used for their player. Holy shit am i glad that people don't use Real Media much anymore so i don't have to have that bullshit installed anywhere. :mad:

Well I have no option but to accept that my bad experiences were just down to either dodgy cracked software or crap computers. I have it on my "mac" but haven't really used it there enough to get a good opinion since I spend 90% of my time on the Win7 hard drive.

I'm always dubious of software updates. When I used to use iTunes, its updates always used to be crap and just a slower, more bloated version of the previous one.

I managed to get it working, turns out my "hosts" file (the one that makes it contact adobe) wasn't modified correctly :D
