While it's too soon to tell, I may be accidentally assembling a metal band for record-making purposes, complete with drummer and a proper singer. :hypno: :rawk:

My band is recording this weekend and after all this time waiting for a band to come along I can't really be bothered, having a complete lack of enthusiasm for it :red: I think it's possibly because our singer has been awol for a while (lost his job a while back and thus has other priorities which is fair enough) which has made things a bit stagnant. At the minute I'm actually thinking about calling it a day with the band unless our singer returns soon and things move forward, not enjoying our practices any more- we end up just jamming endlessly instead of pushing things forward, and I hate aimless jamming without a singer to pull it all together into actual songs. Right now I feel like I'd rather spend the time playing for my own amusement and learning new stuff at home. I think sometimes I like the idea of a band more than the reality, but I suppose my priorities have changed somewhat this year.

This is sometimes what a lot of us go through. In the heat of a great gig all is good, and recording is great. It's the fighting, feeling of nothing going on... it can weigh heavily when you have other things going on in your life. I temd to blow up my bands at that point. Came very close to it last week with one or two....

I agree with this. My band is still ... a thing. Despite my best efforts things are not going the way I'd like.

Collaborative efforts are difficult. People are difficult.

The recording session actually went pretty well and it's sounding awesome which in itself has given me a bit more enthusiasm about the whole thing! I didn't realise how long shit took to get done in a studio though, felt like I wasted most of the day just sat around waiting, guitar tracking only took about an hour! It's sounding huge though so that's cool.

Yeah, i am definitely not one to pick apart someone else's time-keeping. :red:

Sounds doap to me.

Headset mics are so gloriously dorky. Beats the hell out of trying to lean into a traditional mic while playing drums though. Sounds good. :huzzah:

I think it might be me who's being the asshat in this instance and I feel bad about it :red: if our singer doesn't get back to us soon I think that'll be the point where I give it up. He wrote some really cool stuff that would get me excited to play again but I'm not going through the hassle of finding another singer. Got more important stuff in my life than chasing musicians now!

Playing my first show tomorrow in like 3 years, kinda wild. Gonna be playing deerums and doing co-vox duties. It is this here stuff: https://theweepingworm.bandcamp.com/tra ... rpretation

That sounds raw as hell and crushed my little testies. How'd the gig go?

Went well! I think we played decent enough, we didn't stop or actually fuck up so that's the best I could hope for. Gonna be re-recording those songs and a handful of others for realsies pretty soon.

awesome. So much fun and anxiety getting back on stage after being off for a while.

I am not in that predicament right now, I'm actually a little too busy. hoping that it will slow down a bit.

On the good side we are playing a private party in a posh area and have been requested to play Crazy Train. I get lead duties on that one and it's been a while to cover Randy. It is fun trying to get those chops back.

Got to spend a little time properly trying out a Marshall CODE 25 and you can actually get some pretty awesome tones for recording and low volume playing. Might get one for super cheap to use at home. The stock presets really let it down and don't show off how nice the amp profiles are. Did a quick clip trying out the usb midi recording and it's way better than I expected. JCM800 model with too much gainz :

In other news our singer has returned, turns out he checked himself into rehab and is doing much better now!
