TRASH MOUNTAIN NOW HAS A ROBUT.

I have been tits-deep in robut-related learnings lately.

I had some 3d skillset from way back when i did some game models for car sims, but it is a different flavor for what a 3d printer needs.

This fucking thing is one of the most exciting devices i have EVER acquired though. The price/capability thing has finally dropped/climbed to the point where it really feels like some sort of wonderful future has arrived.

They promised me Robuts. The Robuts are here.

(As an aside, could there be a better name for a powerful robot that lives in one's house, than ENDER? :red: )

Oh snap, fully automated manufacturing right in your own home!

Any major plans for Ender?

So far, i have actually been using it to protoype shit for work.

Not exactly why i bought it, but i find it really helps to guide the course and speed of learnding, to have the focus of a real world application to work around.

Mainly though, i have wanted to get into this aspect of production for a long time, but it has just been so stupidly expensive for years.

This robut was only $180. I don't even want to go down the list of other things i have spent more on that were worth less. :red:

Five years ago, this level of machine was more like $2k+.

I also think that it will make a good intro to CAD for me, for a potential similar future cheapening of hopefully some CNC technologies. :eyebrows:

Yeah that technology moved quickly. There's a ton of 3D print shops in my neighborhood, always interesting to see what they crank out.

hello ladies and gents.

Been a while since I've been on. Chris looks like you are getting closer to making things that can mass destruct. huzzah

I am still bandstuffing although I have now gone down to two. Still the GnR thing and the original bandwhich actually allows me to create.

while we record in a proper studio I have been doing more and more from the home studio and my drummer comes over with skillz I fail on drums. Glyn Johns did have right didn't he?

Yeah, i am definitely currently plotting the construction of moar robots, that is for sure.

Kind of want a laser cutter now. :red:

Glad to hear that you are getting some creation angles in, i know that you had mentioned that before as a desire when you were a bit deeper in on the various cover bands you were in at the same time. Good to get a mix and some balance, IMO. :huzzah:

Today is the first day in years I have gotten real joy out of playing guitar. Playing YouTube guitar karaoke through my wife's bass amp at near-nothing levels on my shitty backup-beater from when The Oh Whales toured.

I forgot what that felt like. I have been pretty fucking depressed for the last couple years. I've been on my own little island, and this new gig at Scholastic has validated a part of me I didn't realize needed validation.

I am the happiest I have been since The Oh Whales. Which is, by most standards, pretty fucking lame.

That is awesome, Dev. As a dude who lives in a cave and occasionally forgets how to be happy for extended periods of time, i am very happy for you.

Been busy as hell, pal and I opened a DIY studio a couple months ago. My free time has been destroyed, which is good and bad in some ways. Been productive on a lot of levels though, even with my own stuff.

Alex and I's band put out this album a bit ago that had been in the process for quite a few months: https://cryingmanrecords.bandcamp.com/a ... bbitkeeper

Also, I'm finally getting around to doing shit with the MPC songs I've been stockpiling for the last couple months: https://cryingmanrecords.bandcamp.com/album/vol-2-2

Pretty cool. Fucking LOVE the low end in synth-based beats actions.

Dig the kind of animal collective-ish hazy half-upbeat-feel quality to it. :huzzah:

(talking the MPC track, obv. You know how i like the Rabbitkeeper biz.)

Thanks, y'all.

Kind of funny, don't think either of these projects would exist if I hadn't heard Animal Collective while we were tripping in your living room.

That is I think, just a fucking shit ton of dirty compression courtesy of 1176 and Soundtoys Radiator with Waves Maxxbass. I'm pretty happy with it too. Think it's sampled from a SH-2 or some shit.

All these here synths are from my Roland JV-1080. A lot more handy of a workflow for my own brain than using VSTs and stuff and the functionality of it is super powerful.

Jesus time flies.

This summer has been a shitshow at Trash Mountain. Never have i been so pissed about being busy, but here i am.

The Mountain is just piles and piles of projects i want to do, but can't get to, because of more pressing house stuff and actual paid work that needs being done.

Not looking forward to winter, but maybe it will allow me to get some other stuff done than shit i don't want to do.

I know this place is dead. I wanted to do more with it this year. This year has sucked mostly though.

I hope all you gents are doing better than that out there.
