There's a note you're playing wrong in the prechorus. That D power chord should be a D#.

Tasty toan, though. :rawk:

Sounds pretty nice. Bring the guitars down a bit, and scoop the mids a bit more. You can has MOP tone then.

Oh, and 25 tracks of guitar per side. :red:

Thanks. Ill try that.

As for the 25 tracks per side thing, I did that as well. :O

I just quad tracked everything , and panned accordingly.

:ugeek: I thought it was Justice that used a whole reel of 2" for just the rhythm guitars and Puppets was quad-tracked L/R with a track of chugz up the middle on the palm muted bits? Or was Puppets three per side + chuggz and Justice was "only" twelve tracks, six per side? :hypno:

 Really tight rhythm playing on those records, either way. Hetfield is the real timekeeper in that band for sure.

Either way, Mr. Sheen's toan there sounds spiffy. The :snax: is really a fine piece of kit. Nice playing, too.

Editing depth out the yang on that thing, seriously. I'm curious as to what models and settings you actually wind up liking on there. There's at last count... ah, fuckit, a lot. :wall:

Seriously. Some of the Iced Earth stuff has twelve tracks of rhythm guitar, Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream has some obscene number of tracks, and I'm sure there's more where that came from, all pretty well playing the same thing, or the same two L/R parts. AIC's Dirt is six, L/R with different maps (reports vary as to what, specifically.) The Carcass Heartwork story about getting that tone is pretty amusing re: what was actually done. That's also a bunch of layers.

But yeah. I could be remembering wrong, but I'd swear I'd heard- and this could be entirely apocryphal- that Justice is 24 tracks of rhythm guitar. Considering the apparently obscene amounts of drum editing done on that thing, and that they had the budget for it, I would not be at all surprised if they had one reel for drums, one reel for bass and one for everything else, all synced. The crazy part is how much of this excessive stuff was cut to tape. That has to be- and is, from stories I've read from engineers "back in the day" around for that kinda thing, an epic pain in the dick.

I know the Black album had a fuckton of guitar tracks, because even the Het sounded kind of mushy on that one. If Justice was a whole reel of 2" tape, my respect for Hetfield just went up a notch... not that it needed to.

This seriously is my favorite tone I have heard Mike use.

It is pure beast. Has that tightness, really gels with his playing and it's all in one fucking box :hypno:

But can it do indie toanes :red:

Dude, that thing is a fucking shoegaze machine.
I have heard it done.

Boutique pedal/amp clones are copiously falling out of it's figurative asshole.

Yeah and it has awesome cleans.

I KNOW.

But I could not afford one anytime soon. I'd love it for recording though, oh god.

I just want to hear Mike take a shot at playing something indie.
