Don't let your singer talk you into doing a gig at a hip hop club when they want to just start doing bands and you are the first band there, especially after they just rescheduled you a week after they canceled the first gig. Big club, sounded decent, 12 huge black security card and probably a total of 2 dozen other people. I have not played to such an empty area in many years. good thing was one of our forum members was there, so I got to catch up with him a few minutes. Thanks Eddiemunster666. |

The last band i was in, i made it a personal goal to clear out everyone but the sound guy and maybe two bona fide crazy people before the end of the set. I have no idea why we never got very far.

That reminds me of a fabulous journey I made to Washington DC to play to the opening band, a couple drunk guys at the bar and the bartendrix myself. We were a goth-popmetal Lacuna Coil/Evanescence type thing with a ladysinger; the usual clientele expected either guy-with-an-acoustic solo acts or a Dave Matthews sorta deal. The gig was a complete failure in and of itself, but the getting-there-and-back story trumps it with manifold virtues.
