........because of a blister on my thumb that popped open.

Nope. Believe it or not the cause of this blister was a ridiculously overtightened bottle of Coca-Cola.

MvC3 DID cause a blister, but on my left-hand middle finger inside, and that was 2 weeks ago.

Bah, just play, the pain will subside pretty quick.

I fuck my hands up so often, that if i didn't just play through cuts/blisters, i would have to find different instruments to play, because i would basically never be able to use the drums or guitar. Maybe something capacitively controlled, like a theremin.

It's not completely an issue of specifically the pain itself. It's that these songs all require me to be at my 100% best top condition to pull off, and even a slight distraction like minutes of pain will cause me to slop things the fuck up to the point that I may as well just not be there.

Trust me, I've been trying the last hour or so.

ahh, I see your problem. Too much talent. Be like me, less talent, so no one notices when your only running about 40-50%. Helps when you're drinking.

But, like, what would you do if it was a show, not practice? Or what do you do when you get a blister when you are on tour or something? At a certain point you are going to have to just play through it.

For a show I'd grin and bear it. But for a practice where we probably wouldn't end up doing anything productive anyway, it just wasn't worth it.
